Did we watch the same debate?
Obama took her to school, and Hillary gave a concession speech at the end.
-
"Clinton ended this riff by describing a wrenching visit to wounded soldiers"
Funny how she voted to send them to Iraq, ain't it?
-
There must be a misprint in this article
Obama's campaign can't be making an issue about Hillary's "we're going to be fine" line -- because that is "silly season" -- Obama said that himself. Or is it only "silly season" when the charges are against him? Talk about pathetic -- everybody says or has said "we're going to be fine" at some point in their lives -- that isn't a "lift" from Edwards the same way Obama lifted an entire paragraph from Deval.
-
It's a good thing Hillary spoke first
or Obama wouldn't have known how to answer the questions. Anyone who thinks Obama "won" this debate needs to listen to his answers again -- he just repeated everything Hillary said. She outclassed him -- but then she always has -- people haven't seen that because their swept up on the Obamatrain to nowhere.
-
Anon @ 10:27, you're a genius.
The point of noting that Hillary is lifting lines from John Edwards, Bill Clinton, Mario Cuomo, and for that matter Barack Obama, is not to call her a plagiarist, but rather, to call her a hypocrite. The point that the Obama campaign is making is that politicians regularly lift each others' lines, so Clinton needs to back the f#ck off her fake "plagiarism" charges.
Learn to grasp logic and facts.

For someone who wants to look to the future
Obama sure likes bringing up the past about Hillary's vote on Iraq -- a vote he wasn't even in the Senate to make and a vote that, at the time and with the information at hand, the majority of America was for -- nice to be a Monday Morning Quarterback, Obama.

Nahhhh
"The very tentative guess is that Hillary Clinton still managed to inspire voters in Texas and Ohio to look again, perhaps for the last time, at the candidate whom they are poised to jettison in favor of Barack Obama."
Nice closing speech but manufactured Xerox line showed same old crap that's been coming out of this campaign the whole season. I've gone from really interested in all the Democratic candidates because of their unique talents and interests to thoroughly irritated at Clinton and her people and just wanting her to go away.
I vote Saturday and will jettison away without regret.
-
....Hillary again?
"The very tentative guess is that Hillary Clinton still managed to inspire voters in Texas and Ohio to look again, perhaps for the last time, at the candidate whom they are poised to jettison in favor of Barack Obama."
...this is such glowing language for a loser-candidate...the same kind of language I saw on this website when Gore officially threw in the towel after the 2000 election...yeah, that's a fine concession speech he gave. But to the victors belong the spoils, and it's been a Republican shit-burger for all of us for the last 8 years...to the detriment of our country.
Well, I'm fucking tired of it. The Democratic Party has finally grown some balls, and I'm not waxing nostalgic about our "gentler" times any more. That Democrat Party of the late 20th. Century is getting that proverbial final nail in the coffin...too bad the hammer fell on poor Hillary, but oh well. Time for the Xers to take over...

Words Do Matter
Hillary's closing statement was lovely. And with it she proved Obama's point for him: Words Do Matter.
Xerox that.
-
Texas and Ohio, it's up to you
Take a deep breath and think before you pull that lever.
That's all I hope for.
-
I'm starting to worry about Obama
I voted for the guy, but you gotta admit-- he either says absolutely nothing or repeats what Clinton said 10 seconds ago almost verbatim. I keep hoping that he will vindicate us by saying just one thing either profound or original or at least just not look like such a damn lightweight on the debate stage. This is getting really worrisome.

confused, help, please
When walter writes:
"It is safe to say that the over-hyped plagiarism issue is officially dead, since both Obama and Clinton have now been nabbed for phrase-swiping. But what will be impossible to know for a few days is whether Clinton -- by recycling Edwards' rhetoric -- marred her moment."
How will we know in a few days if she marred her moment? Is he assuming that we know how other people interpreted that moment he fell in love with. I haven't seen it yet, but my buddy (who is very fair in this race) described it in a very different light. Mr. Shapiro seems to already know something and is now just curious to see how the huge benefit of that moment will be affected by her ending. Plus, how will Mr. Shapiro know if it was the ending the ruins the supposed benefits of the first part? It's very strange inferences, but I'm intrigued!

A Pox On Both Of Them
This is the best America can offer? Sheesh, trying to pick the lesser of two big fat phonies??? Obama. Wins. The. William. Shatner. Prize. For. Making. Every. Word. Seem. The. Most. Important. Utterance. Ever. Made. And Hillary just about out-swarms ol' Mr. Smug himself-- the current WH occupant.
Nah, I say follow George Carlin's advice . . . stay home.

It looked like a concession to me.
Texas-sized moment? You mean take 2 on the NH moment, sans tear, add in sappy story about guy she voted to send to war, finish with concession? You generally don't win an election on the strength of your concession speech. Hillary is done coming back. Even so, she could work on having a look other than a smirk when she hears something she disagrees with in some say.
Obama did well. I'm surprised I haven't seen any comments skewering him for the line about some of his speeches being pretty good. I usually find that anything I laugh at, other people write angry posts about.
Obama has practiced his debating. She can't outdo him anymore. He at least matched her on policy and when there were differences, explained them well enough so that he came away looking like he had the better position.
Good job by the CNN people too, asking pointed questions and trying to elicit responses.
