How Obama won Wisconsin The Illinois senator did well with campus liberals, white men, crossover Republicans and independents, but he made inroads into Clinton's working-class base too.

I appologise, I misunderstood your intent.

  • "The Politics of Fear..."

...is absolutely the one thing I want to get away from most, when the Bush Presidency is over. The Clintons are spewing it with a gusto that would make Dick Cheney proud. I keep thinking they've hired Karl Rove's evil twin. (and do you KNOW how evil that would make twin #2???)

Idealism? Give me a break! They're all selling ideals. Clinton's "35 years of experience" means diddly squat to me. It's just words. True, her words are duller than Obama's, but they are no more substantive, & touch me far less, than what he has to say.

As far as healthcare, I'm not sure I want what she's selling, anyway, but let's see what happens when/if they get into office. I remember a lot of flaws in her old plan.

And ready for the Presidency? What makes a person 'ready?" Hanging out in politics for the bulk of your adult life, or having done, as Obama did, what I consider considerably more. And he didn't do it riding the coat-tails of a charismatic mate.

They vary in one way - he was against the war in Iraq, & Clinton was among those who shoved it down their throats, as she fussed about flag burning and video games.

He's doing a great job so far, getting better, and stronger. She's withering. And I'm pleased to see it.

talk about the record, go back and look at the races Obama ran in Illinois. How he actually won them. Of course BHO seems to have lost his own records of the time he was in the Illinois senate. Check out his record on how he actually represented the people of Illinois.= There you go again talking about his words, look at his actual votes after going to washington. It didn't take a lot of courage for an unknown state senator to "talk" about opposing the war. He could depend on the press to forget it if he was wrong, and stupid people like you to read and believe only the parts they want to believe as facts.

Since you seem to be lost somewhere in your little wonder-world of denial and FOX tv, I will bring the resolution to you. The resolution in question, titled the, "Authorization for Use of

Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002", includes two sections: 1) to call for continued used of diplomacy and, 2) to authorize the use of US military force in Iraq.

Here's a link to the full text so perhaps you can better educate yourself:

I'm sorry to be nasty & fear I may further incur Sky's anger, but this sort of lying just has to stop.

  • @prune-cilla

Here are the facts about Barack Obama's state senate records.

    http://www.barackobama.com/factcheck/2007/11/14/fact_check_obamas_state_senate.php

There is absolutely nothing being hidden, as several mainstream news organizations have reported, all of which are linked on the above website. So it's pretty rich to hear you call someone stupid when you are the one who does not know the facts.

How does this square with Bill and Hill's failure to disclose their tax records and Bill's failure to disclose the records of his "charity"?

    your brownlow goes nowhere.

    Well done!

The sad thing is, if one merely skims your message it's almost indistinguishable from actual anti-Obama commenters.

  • Taliesan

    Ap accepted. :-)

There's just so much animosity among the supporters, that I just shake my head that we're gonna screw this General election up royally.

But I think that Obama and Clinton don't take this personally; this is all part of the job of running for president.

But gonna be tough for them to put the party back together in time for November.

  • The Clintons are Ugly People

    I don't believe a word they say.

  • pricilla

... I suspected as much ... never let the facts get in your way. atta girl.

    Carry on ... good night.

  • Obama's record in state senate

anon just what I said you read and believe only what he has said to you. the fact that you go to BHO's website to find out the TRUTH about his record.

  • SkylarDexter

I think it depends on how and when it is decided in the end.

If it comes down to the party establishment overruling the party base, whichever one of them wins the Democrats will lose in November.

If it comes down to the "people's choice" they both stand a pretty good shot in the generals. After all, McCain's campaign slogan may as well be "More wars, less jobs."

The important thing is to put forward the idea that this election is clean, that this is the will of the Democrats, and, with such a high turnout, the American people as well - whichever candidate wins.

Okay, here is the problem: Have you tried asking the state for the said information?

While Obama might not have kept copies of his years in the Illinois Senate, the state probably did.

If the records don't exist, well that kind of means that the New York Times, which claimed to examine his Illinois Senate records, lied.

After all, you can't examine what doesn't exist. And note, this is not a link to a pro-Obama article.

  • @SkylarDexter

When I (that Ph.D. gal) referred to the amazing people we know we are, I was talking about all Americans. What is sad is that because of the entrenched mentality of accepting politics as usual--because to do otherwise is to lose the game--the amazing quality is not seen or even celebrated. The GAME is messed up.

I don't post here on Salon, not on the political section, because Salon is so biased towards Clinton, it is ridiculous. And the enmity between the Clinton and Obama factions is pathetic.

I do object to me and my hard working and genuinely devoted generation of students being denigrated and caricaturized into fawning and empty-headed idealists. It is extremely disrespectful. And depressing as hell.

I teach all day and grade into the night and work with students 40-60 hours a week for a dismal pay. I do it not because of any other reason than the fact that I have FAITH and HOPE that these young kids will make this a better world. A five paragraph essay is just a five paragraph essay. What needs to be IN IT is what makes them think. We work hard to make something elusive, such as education, into something tangible.

Sen. Obama comes from that tradition of thought.

So I am disgusted when someone from Salon or NYT or the Clinton camp tells me or my students that we are peddling false hope. That is the most insulting thing I have ever heard. Any teacher knows that that hope is the only thing we ever really peddle when it comes to shaping our future (Business majors, you are excused from this conversation ^_^ ).

Don't talk down to me if you don't want me to talk down to you. And DO NOT undermine the intelligence of those young voters. They can smell the pile of garbage we are leaving them to wade around in, and they are acting to clean it up.
