All the remaining 2008 contenders -- except Barack Obama -- indulge in an artery-busting blue-collar orgy of fried fish, bratwurst and cheese.

If Obama turned water into wine you Hillbots would be slamming him for promoting alchoholism.

The "plaguerism" was the use of a single uncredited quote. Meanwhile you Hillbots dismissed it when Hillary did exactly the same thing.

  • Are You Waiting?

For him to turn water in to wine?

  • @Taliesan,

it wasn't even an uncredited quote: it was a quote that Barack's personal friend, Deval Patrick, suggested that he use during a conversation they had last week. Basically, it's like Patrick was one of his speechwriters -- and all candidates have speechwriters.

  • Wes,

I'm waiting for you to pull your thumb out of your ass.

It's going to be a long wait, I fear.

When I do, I'll stick it in your nose.

  • The Correct Putdown for Illinosians

I haven't read every word in this ingrown letters collection but the writer (who captured a lot of Wisconsonian flavor) got the wrong quote for our Southern neighbors. It's not FIBs but FISHTABS---F-king Illinois sh-th-ds towing a boat. I've often driven behind them so I should know.

  • Obama and Oprah's momma

Ask yourself where was Obama before Oprah?

This man has gained too much power in too short a time to be trusted. He is telling people what they want to hear. He is a kisser upper. He kissed his way in with the Kennedy's and Kerry and every other name dropper politician he could manage to get close to.

Hillary has been tried and tested. Young people who are cheer leading Obama do not remember the Clinton years when we had peace and some semblance of prosperity.

This election is about electing a president, not a home coming king or a head cheer leader.

The media is biased toward Obama and are determined to defeat Clinton. Are we going to let them decide our future?

    Not me.

  • "She hasn't run her campaign well at all, but she still has some gambits she can attempt."

I think that statement sums up her failure. This campaign is becoming a glimpse into what another clinton adminstration would be like. People see her desperate to win at any cost, shifting with the wind to curry favor from whomever she needs at the moment and her husband taking too great a role and at times seeming to set the aganda.

If Clinton pulls out a win tonight in Wisconsin all bets are off. If Obama wins tonight I think there will begin definite behind the scenes moves to wrap this up. I can't see the Democratic party leaders stand by while the Clintons set out to destroy Obama right up to the convention when they clearly have no chance.

Al Gore is in weekly contact with Obama (and long ago said he would not endorse Clinton), Bill Richardson has not endorsed Clinton despite the strong arm tactics of her husband, Nancy Pelosi is clearly not in favor of seating the MI and FL delegates (those surrounding her are sounding pro Obama). When the time comes (and I think its soon) if the clintons don't exit gracefully but continue a desperate and ugly fight, they will do so at their own professional peril.

  • Always

And I mean always, cast a dubious eye on anyone or any group claiming they are going to change the world.

  • Revere

Yep, darn them young whipper-snappers and their video games and their university degrees.

Them young-un's just don't understand that to take America back towards the left one needs to elect someone who believes the ~evil~ video games industry is out to subvert America's children by splicing nipples into good old wholesome all American ultra-violence.

  • W.E.S.

Yeah, because it is so much better going with someone who promises you nothing (Say, like McCain) and manages to deliver less.

  • Wes,

I shouldn't trust anyone who promises to change things?

    Well, I trust you implicitly.

Because you ain't gonna do a damn thing.

    I trust you for that.

  • You Got The Preacher

Up on the podium preaching, using someone else's words, and the flock down below screaming "YES, WE CAN."

    I say watch out.

  • I agree with the Statue of Liberty lady who said that...

Obama has the young, McCain has the rich, and Clinton has the people who aren’t lucky enough to be either. This was explained to me by the woman dressed as the Statue of Liberty. I’d figured the Statue as a Clinton supporter -- she’s a woman, she’s from New York, and she’s 122 years old.

Oh, you are too funny, Mr McClelland, and even I chuckled at that last phrase! And the VP Bush falling face down and following the ball as he tossed it in that bowling alley can't be invented to be believed.

But I do think the Statue of Liberty woman is right - Clinton's main support comes from the true-blue Democratic base who have nothing 'sexy' or 'hip' about them, but are just struggling, hard-working Americans who have been left to fall between the cracks by the uncompassionate policies of the last seven years, especially.

Thanks to a good job, I am far from financially imperilled myself, but I do see Clinton's wonkish, amazingly detailed speeches as just the thing we all need right now - real, detailed plans for urgent, workable and sufficiently innovative solutions to the mountain of problems facing so many people today. I'm all for giving help and support for the most vulnerable people in society, and so I like Clinton's health care plan, which Paul Krugman has described as the most likely to lead down the road to genuine universal health coverage. I also like her emphasis on new, forward-looking green collar jobs, fixing the crumbling infrastructure, consideration of a much more efficient national railway system, tackling greenhouse gases with practical incentives and practices, removing tax incentives for companies moving jobs overseas, etc., etc.,.

So pray tell, what is so wrong with presenting people with your well-thought-out plans for one's presidency? Isn't that what candidates are supposed to be doing in their campaigns? More than just giving slogans and inspirational speeches? Clinton even challenges her audiences to hold her accountable for what she promises, waving that little booklet that outlines her economic plans when she is president. Is that so wrongheaded a campaign these days?
