I just totally disagree with you. The big states matter. Winning them matters. Winning Ohio by 9-10 points matters more than lapping somebody in Kansas. It will matter to the superdelegates (whom both of them will need since neitehr will win with pledged delegates). But I guess we'll just have to wait and see what actually happens, you know, in the real where, where history takes place--unlike Mr. Shapiro, who wants to start another Obama coronation already.
OK! Super delegates do not matter. I will chant this repeatedly until it sinks in. Yes! We! Can! Oops, wrong chant.
Louisiana's half-black, Washington's well-off, and Obama does better with wealthier voters, and, for some mysterious reason, Plains States prefer Obama. They're not very big and Hillary still won 40% of the delegates. No tide is turning whatsoever; she's a lock to win Ohio and Texas and probably Pennsylvania.
There will be no "excuse" if Clinton loses Ohio or Texas or Pennsylvania. That will be REAL evidence of true momentum with core Dem constituencies on Obama's part, and will definitely sway waffling superdelegates (oops, but they don't matter, sorry, back to my chant....).
Well, it wasn't Hillary Clinton, although to read some of the posts on this site one would easily think it was. The man who addressed a plenary session of the UN Security Council on that date was General Colin Powell, head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (US). He urged military action against Saddam Hussein, stating "There can be no doubt that Saddam Hussein has biological weapons and the capability to rapidly produce man, many more.." General Powell also insisted that Saddam Hussein was trying to obtain key components for nuclear weapons. That a man in his position, a highly respected man, could be duped with so much flim-flam that he was prepared to ask for a global push against the Saddam regime is truly incredible. Whether he was duped or not is for historians to decide but many thousands have died as a result of the reckless invasion of Iraq in March 2003. British, Spanish and soldiers from other countries have died in Iraq and the entire country has been subject to rapine. Who could not believe the word of the American head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff? There were dissidents in the British media and at least one of P.M. Tony Blair's Cabinet Ministers, the brilliant Robin Cook, resigned. A scientist drawn into the whole murky business (David Kelly) committed suicide. If Americans are looking for villains in relation to the Iraq War, the "usual suspects" are easily named but Colin Powell escapes scot free. He did his best to convince the United Nations but the French and, I think, the Germans were'nt buying it. Because they would not go along with the travesty, the French were branded "cheese-eating surrender-monkeys" but I guess the French don't care what Americans think of them.
At the urging of a few Obama supporters on this site - and their tone was disdainful - I checked out Senator Obama on foreign policy. I read that his first major speech on foreign policy was given last April (April 2007) at a Chicago Council on Global Affairs. I then read that one of his objectives is "marshalling a GLOBAL effort to secure, destroy and stop the spread of weapons of mass destruction". With this, I came to the conclusion that Senator Obama must be living in cloud-cuckoo-land. After the way the world was deceived just five years ago it's highly improbable that any "global effort" will ever be instigated again at America's behest. People were tricked, Americans and others alike, and there's no getting away from that.
Yes, Hillary was on the board at Walmart. It is unfortunate that people just throw it out there, as if she killed someone. Below are some points I would like you to know of what she did when she was on the board at Walmart.
"Clinton used her position to urge the company to improve its gender and racial diversity. Because of Clinton’s prodding, Walton (the owner of Walmart) agreed to hire an outside firm to track the company’s progress in hiring women and minorities."
"These were things the company was not addressing and wouldn’t have, had she not pushed them to do so," Ortega said. "She’s somebody who could definitely get things done."
In fact, Clinton proved to be such a thorn in Walton’s side that at Wal-Mart’s annual meeting in 1987, when shareholders challenged Walton on the company’s lack of female managers, he assured them the record was improving "now that we have a strong willed young lady on the board."
Clinton was particularly vocal on environmental matters, pressing the company to boost its sale and use of recycled materials and other "green" products.
Garry Mauro, who served with Clinton on a Wal-Mart environmental advisory committee, pointed to many successes, such as persuading the company to establish recycling centers and sell products like recycled oil and long-life light bulbs.
I am sure we have a lot of Obama supporters who shop and work at Walmart and I don't know why working for Walmart is such a big deal with people. At least these people have jobs to go to every day and at least Hillary improved the gender and minority bias, while she was on the board.
MICHELLE OBAMA AND HER RELATIONSHIP WITH WALMART:
Maybe people who support Obama should not throw stones until they know the background of the Obama family.
Michelle Obama also sat on a board, which was related to Walmart. She had to give up her position on this board once her husband thought it was not politically correct. (She served as a salaried board member of TreeHouse Foods, Inc.,[14] a major Wal-Mart supplier.)
It might be a good idea for the Obama supporters to know both sides of the story, before throwing out details they know nothing about.
I will never waiver...my vote is and always will be for Hillary Clinton.
During the eight years of Bill, for every 1 good thing he did, there was at least 1 bad thing, and sometimes more.
"We have always been at war with Eastasia. We have always hated the Clintons."
