And then there were two

In a highly anticipated showdown, Clinton and Obama duked it out, sort of, in a fight for the high road.

The letters thread is now closed.

ugh ugh ugh

This is our choice? Pick from these DemRep bought and paid for goons?

If the [s]election showdown came to:

Hillary vs Romney - I would write in Ron Paul

Hillary vs Huckabee - I would write in Ron Paul

Hillary vs McCain - I would write in Ron Paul

Obama vs Romney - I would write in Ron Paul

Obama vs Huckabee - I would write in Ron Paul

Obama vs McCain - I would write in Ron Paul

Can you guess who I like? Maybe the ONLY one talking about saving this country from the corporatism that is turning the US into an immoral, war mongering fascistic state?

Hill nor Obama can fool me, they will ADORE grabbing at the power Bushie grabbed for himself. Instead of denouncing the destruction of the Bill of Rights and Constitution, they smile those ingratiating fakey fakey smiles and jockey to take the reins of the Beast.

SICKENING. And why I cannot stand the left anymore. Left, join Right. BOTH EVIL.

No real Democrat can deny we were looking at a dream ticket last night.

Last night was the first time in a while that I felt great about the Democratic chances in November. I was really getting discouraged by the blood sport aspects of politics and the MSM's control of things.I was depressed by the bickering between the Obama supporters and Hillary's supporters. I was mad at Bill Clinton and the Media's obsession with him.Being a Hillary supporter I knew I would support Obama if nominiated but my heart was heavy with worry that he was not up to the job and would be rolled by the the Republicans.

Last night our two canidates made me so proud! They took control of the night and did not let Weasel Wolf get shots in for his pals in the MSM, they were not going to be the stars this time. The result was a great substansive discussion of progressive thought and policy. Finally progressive thought broke through the MSM and was showcased for the voters. What a great night for us all! Any viewer who watched the Republicans the night before and the Dems last night got to see a stark contrast between the bankrupt ideas of the Republicans and the energetic agenda of the Democrats.

I still feel that Hillary has the skills needed for this point in time but Obama had time to fill in some blanks for me and I am assured that he is indeed progressive.I know this sounds somewhat simplistic but that final image of the two of them together sure looked like a dream team to me. The thought of the two of them barnstorming the country and bringing it to a new place brings me real hope. Eight years of a hard working policy wonk aided by a born pursuader followed by eight years of a more seasoned, more effective leader. Sounds like Nirvana to me!

@ Xrandadu Hutman

Obama clearly came out on top, you say???

One will never know how your neurons and synapses came up with this conclusion.

The debate I saw clearly gave the victory to Mrs. Clinton.

I watched CNN's internet feed of the debate with the onscreen rating by undecided voters gathered together in Oxnard California.

As the candidates spoke, viewers expressed their reaction on a graph. At rest, the meteres read 50. When Obama spoke his ratings were ususally between 50 & 70. When Hillary spoke... also starting at 50.. her scores were mostly in the 70 to 90 range, with her peaks coming well above ninety.

Obama never achieved that sort of approval from the undecideds. In fact, his meandering, fact-free, passion-free answers had the line usually trending downward and as noted above, rarely poking above 70.

This was a fascinating way to watch the debate. Extremely revealing. And as one who has always supported Hillary, it was gratifying to see my longstanding belief hold true.

In CNN's reporting after the debate, the reporter at the Oxnard gathering said the crowd came in evenly split at 50-50 between the candidates. Afterward, the balance had tipped to 60-40 for Hillary. No doubt, those embarassed to admit they had ever supported Obama were reluctant to admit the truth.. they don't get the guys' appeal, either.

When the two candidates are rated side by side, Obama can't possibly compete when the nation is hungry for competence, dedication and exceptional brainpower..

In the class of presidential contenders, Obama showed himself to be the class dullard. Someone who should be going to special-ed. An entry level worker who thinks he should be CEO. That certainly accounts for the chip on his shoulder.

He will never be president.

Careful & Political

This debate was a snoozer because both these candidates are cautious candidates. They have never offered bold change like Edwards. Indeed, they followed Edwards lead throughout this campaign. They made sure that Edwards tested the waters for them first before they would even release their policy proposals. This cautious campaiging is exactly what we will get if either of them is in the Whitehouse. There will be none of the bold change we desperately need. Instead we will get careful, politically correct, don't offend anyone tinkering along the edges.

It's really too bad that the one candidate who offered real historic change that would benefit all of us is the one that was not covered by the media and ignored by the insiders. The two candidates we have left offer a historic change with their gender and race and that's it.

Oh how I wish we could bring back Edwards.

VMC

Class dullard? Barack was president of Harvard Law Review; Hillary failed the bar exam. Barack refused to fan tensions between Hispanics and African Americans; Hillary threw Hispanics under the bus.

And the observation about her turquoise jewelry in the article was relevant, because Southwestern states vote on Tuesday. Good heavens, people! Even her EARRINGS pander for votes.

What are Hill's credentials?

Wife of former president -- big whoop

Senator who got elected on coattails of husband's reputation. -- big whoop

She knows how to pull the 'weak female' act though.

Obama pandered shamelessly to Latinos

I thought it was quite clear that Obama pandered to Latinos, disingenuously dismissing African-Americans' concerns about the impact of undocumented Latino immigrants on urban labor markets as "scapegoating." Not only is that total baloney, as Mickey Kaus argues today on Slate, it's also a total flip-flop from statements he's made. HRC gave the more honest, forthright, and politically courageous response -- this from the candidate often, and unfairly, derided as the "say anything, do anything to get elected" candidate.
