She trounced Obama by 17 points -- but in an outlaw primary whose delegates won't count. Or will they? It all depends on Feb. 5 -- and Democratic Party rules.

  • Michigan delegates

I think it would be wrong to seat Michigan because not everybody was on the ballot. But Florida's delegates should be seated.

  • Now back to the snub...

    No, listen, really.

I honestly think the snub itself is ridiculous--that is, whether or not it happened (totally debatable, given the cherry-picking nature of every camera lens). Furthermore, I think it's clear that given C and O's volume of shared appearances together of late, there is bound to have been a bunch of snubs, whether intended or accidental or not even there or sort of "Oh I hope she doesn't look toward me b/c I don't feel like being in this awkward moment b/t her and Kennedy," or whatever.

I brought the whole stinkin' thing up because I really, really wished that Hilary had put it to rest w/Chris Wallace last night instead of fueling it. EVEN IF she was unambiguously, unquestionably snubbed, taking the high road might have been nice for the Dems in general. Right? AKA Smith: Wouldn't even you agree to this? I mean, if she had, instead of essentially admitting that she felt snubbed, said instead something like, "Now, Chris (big smile on her face), I know you media guys love to promote a scandal, but, really, Barrack and I are working together to bring progressive issues to the public. Let's focus on how my health care plan..." And wouldn't you have, today, in salon, bragged about how she remained above the fray or stayed classy or kept it to the issues or something? That's all I wanted. I really wish this stuff wasn't in the media and all over salon, and I was making the point that Hilary herself sort of kept it alive. I would have liked her better for it.

I feel that I am more balanced about the candidates than many here; I guess I wish Dems kept their dirty laundry hidden a bit (just the petty stuff), especially on FOX. (childish, I know)

  • @lateagain

A bunch of Obama voters, for example, may have thought that, since it didn't matter anyway, they'd ensure a somewhat decent Repub if they voted for McCain, whom they could tolerate, over Romney, whom they could not. See what I mean? I know it could have gone the other way, too, but honestly it seems likely that Obama voters could go for McCain (not in the general, but as sort of middle of the roaders, would want to be sure that, given Dems' tendency to lose elections, there was someone they could tolerate as Pres.)

Democrats couldn't vote Republican in Florida. Its a closed primary. So unless Obama voters decided to register for the primary as Republicans before the cut-off date, then it is unlikely that many of the Democrat votes went to Republicans.

  • NO!!!!

Hillary going to FL and claming victory in FL was a flawed campaign tactic. Then she has a Press conference on TV. Granted she does have a lot of GUTS!!

I know several people who were holding off sending in their vote-by mail ballots here in CA. I just talked to them again and many previous HRC voters just sent in their ballots, voting for Obama. Seeing more of the ethical qualities of Obmam, and HRC's campaign tactics moved them to Obama. The FL stunt was the last straw for many.

I have been supporting Obama but still thought Hillary was a second choice. I have admired Hillary and defended her and Bill for years, but after watching her divisive campaign tactics in contrast to Obama's integrity, I saw the light. As a long time Democrat, a feminist, if Senator Clinton wins the nomination, I will have a hard time voting for her. I will however hold my nose and for her in the general, if she wins the nomination. However I fear many will not come out to vote if she wins.

  • I can't believe Clinton supporters in this forum

What Hilary Clinton is doing is FOUL. Where was Clinton's support for Michigan and Florida when this was going on last year? I support Obama, but if he did something like this, rather than trying to explain the deviousness away, I would seriously consider changing my vote.

    I am utterly amazed!

  • Do Over, Redo the Math or Revoke the Delegates

With respected reference to Deadhead's math, Edward's exit may have changed the dynamic. However, even assuming that his stuff just gets split and it looks like neither will reach the heretofore magic number, why not simply lower the magic number to exclude the Mich and Fla delegates, so that instead of 2025, it's now 1855 (2025 minus half of Florida and Michigan)?

Otherwise, the only real solution is a mulligan. But since Michigan at least is saying they won't do one, then screw 'em. Give 'em nothing, not just this time but next, too.

It also seems that, since Billary pledged to the 4 sanctioned early states that she agreed Fla and Mich wouldn't count, they would be well within their rights to take and/or reassign their Clinton delegates now that she has reneged (breached) on that pledge (contract).

Even the people in Chicago don't read that rag, The Sun-Times. It's because Chicago is a pretty liberal city and that paper, unlike it was once upon a time, is run by conservative assholes.

  • Yes. Hillary Did Win...

and the people of Florida showed who they want as the next President. I am really upset that the people of Florida did not have the option to hold their delegates and it is an injustice to them that there vote is being used as a joke by the Obama campaign.

The Democratic National Party should not have the right to withhold these delegates and as a resident of Florida, I am very upset that they took away my voice.

  • Ready.... Aim....

I just knew the Democratic Party would find a truly creative way to shoot itself in the foot and deprive Democratic voters with a chance to choose their nominee.

  • What if Obama won?

I am convinced that if Obama had won the popular votes in Nevada and Florida, the media would embrace the victories as REAL proof that he is the anointed one for Democrats. Not so for Hillary. I guess Obama believes that the vox populi in a democracy should be handed over to more elite people, like delgates. Not really a man for the people. When Obama loses, he pouts, doesn't say congratulations to the winners publically, the media never calls him on this and then he sicks the media dogs on Clinton. Obama's biggest asset in this campaign is the fact that he is black and Hillary's biggest obstacle is that she is a woman in a country where media people are uncomfortable with any leadership that is not male. Obama has a huge media coverage advantage going into Feb 5th. I have not been able to identify even one critical comment about Obama made by the media. The media even engineered an argument whereby his house deal with Rezco was blamed on Hillary.
