I am dumbfounded by these responses...
This was not a Primary but an biased survey. Just as Michigan was.
With the candidates not actively campaigning in Florida, as they were not supposed to, Hillary Clinton had an incredible advantage based on name recognition. Even if she did not have that advantage and still gathered the largest number of respondents, this was not an election as this does not count. Did some of you just realize this?
I am not marginalizing the people of Florida, nor those in Michigan. The Democratic Party Leadership in the States of Florida and Michigan already did that.
If Florida and Michigan are allowed to seat their delegates, after it was made perfectly clear that they would not be allowed to, that biases and corrupts this entire process. No one is happy about these developments, I ASSURE YOU, but I am stunned by the hints that Hillary Clinton is going to try to game the system.
(I can actually forgive the Michigan Democratic party leadership for being so shortsighted because Michigan is in such bad shape. But reading that the Party Head would NOT consider another primary tells me that that screw up is arrogant on top of incompent. I am so sorry Michigan, state of my birth, that you need to deal with this. Florida is another story...why are we constantly walking an electoral minefield in that state? After all the grief Florida hoisted upon the national electorate, the Democrats in that state try to pull this?)
The point was made several times, that if Obama and Hillary were found to be even last night, this would be a moot point. But they weren't so it isn't. If it was, Hillary wouldn't be trying to end run around the rules. Don't make this about Obama, its not.
(I also want to remind some people, that Jesse Jackson won in Michigan also. But he campaigned there and was actually on the ballot. For some reason, that seems to make a difference.)

Oh, and Republicans are Already Laughing about Teddy Kennedy
Republicans are already laughing that Obama had to have Ted Kennedy step in when things got rough out there with the big, bad Clintons. It's now a joke.

FOR THE HILLARY SUPPORTERS!!
For all of you Hillary supporters, I’m happy for you. But, if you think for one minute that we who oppose the Clintons will not cross over and vote Republican--WAIT AND SEE!!! Those of us who don’t want another Clinton in the White House will do whatever is necessary to stop them. It is bad enough that the Clintons will win the nominee at any cost to the Democratic Party so, it will be our responsibility to stand in numbers and vote across party lines. We have suffered this long with the Republicans so, what’s another four to eight years. So, be very happy until November of 08.

Thanks peeps
I'm with "peeps" on this. I won't speak to Florida -- not my state -- but Michigan was indeed a biased survey. The DNC promised they would not count this "primary" and I took them at their word. They better not dare take it back. Seating the "delegates" from this fraudulent election would be the last straw. Memo to Michigan Democratic leadership: get over it and hold a real caucus that will count.

I get that...
no one gets any delegates from the Florida primary, but does it really mean NOTHING? Over a million people turned out to vote when there was no (almost) campaign at all. No one got phone calls telling them to go vote, no one got rides to polling places, etc. Over one million democrats went out and voted yesterday even though it might mean nothing at all.
It is not their fault their state party moved the election up again the DNC's rules and it certainly isn't Hillary's.
Also, is it really a beauty contest? Were Florida voters incapable of watching the debates and reading the papers and internet and Salon and all the rest? Because no one has been campaigning in my state yet and I have more or less made up my mind. In fact, I have not been to a single campaign rally or anything of the sort and I have voted in every election for the past six years (I'm not claiming that is a lot of years, but it is every year that I have been able to vote), and I have always based my decisions off of watching debates, watching the news, reading the newspapers, and reading the internet...so unless the people from Florida were blocked from doing those things I do not believe that it was only a beauty contest. Only having those sources at my disposal, I too have made a choice and it is based on more than name recognition and good looks. Give the people from Florida the credit they deserve, I don't think they are idiots.

Bias
When Obama wins, it's a "breakthrough." When Hillary wins, it's "Did Hillary Clinton really win?"

@ stlouis
Thanks for the warning. It may be advisable for you to register as a Republican right away. They will need the votes since Michelle Malkin and Co are already planning to sit on their hands come November. Your vote will be helpful across the aisle. We will try to manage without you.

"high negatives" is all very abstract
here's how it plays out in practice. hillary gets nominated. rather than 4 (8?) more years of clinton finger wagging, McCain gets elected.

Shapiro has lost his objectivity
There have been many "beauty contest" primaries in the past, and the winner of them was usually designated a "winner."
Now, in 2008, this "beauty contest" primary is described as "meaningless."
But only if Hillary wins it.

Florida
So much of the Press has so much invested in Obama that he is shielded from from reality. He ran ads in Florida. This was explained away as part of "national media buy." How ludicrous.
The Democratic Party daring Michiganders and Floridians to vote Republican is so typically Democratic. Having a candidate work to make sure that does not happen is remarkably intelligent.

Pathetic and unjust...
My 21 year old son grows more and more disillusioned about Hillary Clinton every day. While I know I will vote for whoever the Dem candidate is, he says he will sit out the race if Hillary is the candidate.
He believes HRC is showing a "win at all costs" side that convinces him that her presidency will be a continuation of the "Bush Regime." It is hard to argue with him after HRC's "Florida Gambit."
The only fair way to let Michigan and Floria's delegates "count" would be to strip them of half their delegates and then give half to each candidate -- RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE.
Thus punishing each state while keeping things fair for both candidates.
Then, maybe my idealistic young son will feel comfortable voting for the party's candidate -- whoever he or she may be.
