  • SOTU Next Year ?

Isn't the usual practice for there to be an Inaugural Address and no SOTU form the well of the House?

  • Well, about that collective wisdom

if the US public had any collective wisdom, Bush wouldn't be giving that speech last night and Cheney wouldn't be sitting right behind him next to the Speaker. Both would have faced a firing squad years ago.

  • Every SOTU by Bush is Marked by a Lower Approval Rating

Thank you Mr. Shapiro! Your facts are daunting. They summarize for many of us the "dismal state" of our country after 7 years of the George Bush style of leadership and his Republican enablers.

'Style of Life' of an individual was noted by the psychiatrist, Alfred Adler. Adler believed that " The style of life of an individual is wholly accomplished in earliest childhood..." He went on to say,

"I do not doubt that some persons through experience bring their mistaken style nearer to a social adaptation but always only if their common sense (a social function) is working for improvement. Otherwise the failures we observe do not change in the least degree."

Early in George Bush's life his mother, Barbara, noted that his behavior was disturbing. She said so to others. Barbara Bush is quoted in Frank Shaeffer's "Crazy for God" as asking Shaeffer's mother, an evangelist, to pray for George.

  • Haven't you heard???

Bush is Hitler, Stalin, and Saddam Hussein, all rolled into one. And throw a little pure Prince of Darkness in for good measure. Thankfully, our Messiah Barak Hussein Obama is here to save the American people from the tyranny of Bush!

  • Bush's first State of the Union Address

As I watched last night, I also was intrigued by where and when the camera left the President to show people's reactions. A mention of health care prompted a cut to Hilary, war references and a pan of 4 soldiers is shown, comments of development aid and a zoom-in on the West African woman with child followed, and so on. I noticed the disparate human waves that Barack Obama, god bless him, brings to light about the address on the morning after the very last time we will have to endure the W for an entire hour.

So, it's a brilliant aspiration to hope that we can cross party lines and rise up and cheer for this hope together. I am hopeful. I'm also curious...

Can someone out there dig up Bush's very first state of the union address? Did both sides of the aisle stand up and clap for his address on uniting? What presidents, if any, in televised recorded history have been able to get both parties to stand up and applaud the leader who governs them?

    Investigate...

  • danilani, here you go

Okay, so it isn't Bush's first State of the Union address. But it's one of his early ones:

Quite a striking difference, don't you think?

  • That Almost Sounded Sarcastic

Bush is Hitler, Stalin, and Saddam Hussein, all rolled into one. And throw a little pure Prince of Darkness in for good measure. Thankfully, our Messiah Barak Hussein Obama is here to save the American people from the tyranny of Bush!

I'm judging by the way you used Barak's middle name (gasp! It's muslim!) that you like Bush.

I didn't think there were any of your kind left.

So tell us -- seriously -- do you really think Bush is a brilliant economic genius? Do you really think he will be remembered as one of the most brilliant military tacticians of our age? Will future West Point classes (in your mind) study the Bush model of troop management, rotation and overall nation-building and regard it as a brilliant masterwork from a genius mind?

    Ha ha!

    Um, okay!

    Good luck with that!

Bush the "brilliant" economist! Ha ha!

    Bush the "brilliant" military genius.

Oh Lord, I needed that good belly laugh this morning!

    Thanks!

FYI -- Bush might not technically fit the definition of retarded, but he's right up the edge. So what does that say about you if you think he is smarter than you?

  • State of the Union?

Bush gave a State of the Union Address last night?

I guess I had more important things to do.

    Who cares anymore anyway?

Let's put this embarrassing eight years of US history behind us.

  • Sebelius really has me wondering

I enjoyed her response to Bush's address very much. She sounded like someone I could back for VP.

HOWEVER today I learned that her son is marketing a board game that makes a joke out of prisoner rape.

Forget her as VP. No way could I vote for a woman who raised a son who thinks rape is funny.

In my opinion rape is always wrong, even when it's done to a prisoner.

  • I'm still waiting

...for him to choke on that pretzel. One can only hope.

  • Democrats applaud this lying two faced treasonous jackal

They even stand for the scaliwag!!!

Well, I couldn't vote for Kucinich now anyway. The Democrats do not want my vote.

  • The collective wisdom of ordinary citizens...

...can usually be measured by asking them questions. This is what pollsters do.

And the collective wisdom of ordinary citizens, as indicated by polls, seems to indicate that they are, pretty overwhelmingly, against the war in Iraq.

President Bush, why are you not using this as a guide for our country?

  • ahh, memories of states of the union past

whatever happened to bush's promise of a manned mission to mars? or his promise to get the steroids out of sports? or that clever idea to privatize social security so we can all invest in the stock market and be rich by 2008?

  • Bush Rules v. Clinton Rules

You never thought it was "unsporting" to parse Bill Clinton's words, did you, Walter? But, then, a lie about a blow job is so much worse than lies about war and weapons of mass destruction.

  • He Really Is Not Evil

He is a hollow tube through which evil flows.

  • Tust?

Shrub only "trusts the people" insofar as they can have their emails, snail mail, phone conversations, credit card uses tracked, and be "detained" in prisons in another country in a jail built with the complicity of another "thought" policeman. But on a lighter note, don't you think all those adoring asskiiers who rushed to buy land in Crawford to be next to the hero of the right? How's that water tasting there now? What? No water? OOPS! Please Lord, don't let the sob start a war and get us all blown to bits by a really pissed off country with nukes.
