  • This is where you lose me

and to ask for some fresh faces and ideas

I don't want fresh faces and ideas. I want proven, effective faces and ideas. If you haven't noticed the country is sinking faster than the Bush twins at a keg party.

Bush after all was a fresh face and idea over the Clintons and I think we can all agree it wasn't an improvement.

  • A new day has come...

The moment I realized a new day was dawning was when my very elderly, slightly racist father, who lives in Florida, told me he's voting for Obama. If Obama can get my father's vote, anything is possible.

  • I hope Obama's security is good

Because if the Klan really believes he'll win, they will try to assassinate him. We need no more martyrs. He's already getting threats.

  • I don't know that we'll ever be on the same page, but...

    (@Anonymous 10:53)

    First,

If you haven't noticed the country is sinking faster than the Bush twins at a keg party.

Yes, I have noticed. (Surely that's not surprising?)

I don't want fresh faces and ideas. I want proven, effective faces and ideas.

I am thankful to Bill Clinton for giving us 8 years of peace and prosperity. I am thankful for his occasional stands on principle, like his veto of the ban of the dilation and extraction procedure. However, I would characterize what was "proven" by the Clinton presidency as (a) we can take "two steps forward, one step back," and (b) then watch the "two steps forward" be completely undone. If that's all we get, I will be disappointed, and I'm not sure it's enough to stop us "sinking."

Bush after all was a fresh face and idea over the Clintons and I think we can all agree it wasn't an improvement.

I do agree. I think we can all agree that just because some changes are bad, does not mean that all changes are.

  • Rout, my ass.

Stop the racist bullshit. This was no rout by Obama of Clinton. You're playing into the racist lies promoted by media, and the worst elements in the Obama campaign. Obama received almost all his support in SC from Blacks, and came in third "behind Edwards" among White voters.

  • Ah but can he do it in Ca. and elsewhere...

No, I do not think Obama can win Ca. For a variety of reasons.

    1- Experience

2-He only talks about hope and change with no ideas's on how he will bring this about.

3-Rezco, is like waiting for a bad dream to end but it continues, a bad dream which for Obama is reality unfolding day by day and will be speeding up on February 25, 2008 when Patrick Fitzgerald starts the trial of one of Obama's friends and main contributors to his campaigns for over twenty years!

4-When we hear more about the letters Obama wrote for his friend and Contributor Rezco to help him gain support from the state Obama represented as state Senator. These properties became slum property's with out heat in the dead of winter!

5- Finally when the truth comes out about the purchase of his 1 1/2 million dollar home which was financed with the help of Rezco's wife.

6- What else will come out...

  • @Dagome

I think we're ultimately on the same side; we both see what Bush has done to the country : left it in ruins. Our great great grandkids will still be paying high taxes just servicing his debt and the real unemployment will probably reach 20% with 4 more years of a GOPster. Not to mention that I can tell you this assuredly as it's my job to study healthcare trends - there will be no more company insurance - it will go the way pensions went to 401k's. (and no nobody can afford to retire which only adds to our unemployment issues).

That said, it seems to me way way too many people are supporting Obama based on his "inspirational" speeches and on a wind and a hat. Things are so bad now and getting so much worse so fast we really do need someone who can hit the ground running. As Maxine Waters said

"At a time when the economy continues to worsen and so many of my constituents are losing their homes and their jobs, we need someone with the leadership and experience who can step in on day one to tackle the economic challenges our country is facing ... Hillary understands the daily challenges that people are facing and she will fight for them every day she is in the White House."

I agree 100%. And I lived through Reagan 1,2, Bush 1, Clinton 1,2 and Bush 2 1,2 and let me tell you the differences between GOP and DEm are like night and day. If you want to go the way of being (for all practical purposes) being entirely on your own for healthcare like you are for retirement than by all means vote GOP. If you want a Democrat to fix healthcare instead of Republicans than people better wake up and support HRC. She can do it, Obama can't, doesn't have a real plan and won't even talk about it to the people. What I like about HRC too is she'll take any question from anyone and put forth a well-thought out solution - while at the same time being honest about what it will take and the struggle and sacrifices we have to make.

Last on this anti-babyboomer crap some people are spouting. First, not all babyboomers voted GOP and left the youngsters this MESS> I sure as hell didn't. 2) there is a big differnce between the beginning of the babyboomers versus those of us born in the last few years of it - we (the latter) had it almost as hard as you guys and the front end of the babyboomers screwed it up for us too. You can't just assume babyboomers are one big monolithic group - huge huge differences between the first years of them versus the lastyears of them. So I really resent being told I left a "mess' for young people when I in fact supported and support the administration with the solid record of leaving things in good shape for those behind us. I DO care. It was the I -got-mine Reagan voting seniors and the front end of the babyboomers that tended to vote Republican. (and even all of them didn't)

Last, just cause the press and GOP have held their fire on Obama, please don't assume he's going to get a free pass. The GOP oligarchy is not about to let him become president even if he was qualified to be (which I sincerely believe he isn't and his arrogance scares me a bit). This Rezzo thing alone which Fitzpatrick is about to open is going to be really really bad.

Wheras all the dirt the GOP spent years fabricating about HRC is old, tired and won't amount to a hill of beans.

Well, that's my thoughts about it all.

    ciao.
