I am sure that some people, that really like HRC, or that hate Black people might have very negative feelings about BO. But the bottom line is that a huge part of the population want nothing to do with the Clinton's. So given that they are both centrist legislatures that have successful careers. But neither has much executive experience and they will likely make very similar decisions.Explain why running HRC is worth risk? They are both fine candidates. BO attracts young people and independents who normally don't vote. By now there is no way they could share a ticket. So given an either or choice... Weigh the risks.
Just because his wife call's him stinky doesn't mean you should call him BO - :)
Several people here have asked why Obama supporters wouldn't automatically transfer their votes to Hillary in November, should she win the nomination. The simple fact is that Hillary has not conducted a campaign that merits our support.
She and her surrogates (Bill especially) have willfully distorted Obama's record, twisted his statements and misrepresented his positions. These are the same kinds of ethical lapses that Democrats have complained about for the last eight years. If the party is willing to nominate a candidate whose grasp of the truth is little better than Bush's, the party deserves to lose its Obama voters -- and quite possibly the election.
I can't believe that there are Democrats saying they can't vote for Hillary if she is the candidate.
Really? I can't believe there's a sentient human left on the planet who doesn't realize Hillary is a republican and double-high authoritarian who will not only continue Smirky-Darth policy but expand it. You think Iraq is bad? Wait until Hillary nukes Iran. Then we'll see some fun.
NH, MI,NV all are states which whites outnumber all people of color clearly the majority of whites did not vote for Obama in these states primaries..
Whites are embrassed when reports surface about the "Bradley" effect becuase it is true. White get uncomfortable when race questions surface becuase it reflects America's fabric and reality..
White liberals more than white conservatives are the voters who will disappoint many Black voters with regard to Obama.
Hillary and Bill have an "entitlement" mentality with regard to Black voters they think Black folks 'owe them" something..
In my pubic speaking I always inject Ali's quote "..The VC never called me a nigger.." ALi was referring to both liberal whites and conservative whites..
Black folks latest obstacle to life, loberty and thepursuit of happiness are now white liberals whose arrogance , patronizing demeanor is a staple on this Salon's staff and it's posters..
"She and her surrogates (Bill especially) have willfully distorted Obama's record, twisted his statements and misrepresented his positions."
Ah, to be able to see the world through rose colored glasses.
Exactly how is that different than what Barack has done?
Wake up people.
Senator Obama offers a political vision and integrity that makes us want to be a better people and a better nation. He strikes the same cord in us that JFK did. I haven't wanted to vote in a long, long time and now I can't wait.
The Clintons make me sick. They run the swarmiest, most low down campaigns ever. The will do and say anything to regain the Presidential office. It is hard at this point to decide which of them is the most offensive. They have no integrity or crediblility and can lie easier than anyone I have ever seen. Hillary Clinton doesn't deserve to be on the same stage with Senator Obama or John Edwards. P.S. Bill's new neck ties make him look like a carnival hustler.
Why is it that I keep hearing the news reporters saying that Hillary is mean and evil, but then when I hear her actual words and see her deliver them, they sound very reasonable and the points are well thought out and present very detailed explanations?
Food for thought.
"Any Obama supporter who is childish and puerile enough to throw a hissy fit and vote for a Republican or not at all instead of Clinton in a general election richly, richly deserves the next 100 years in Iraq and the next several trillion dollars in debt.
-- Rosenkavalie
Excuse me? Could you kindly explain and point out the evidence that shows Clinton would have done things differently from GWB? Because, I'm sorry, I'm not seeing it. Where has she gone against the current policy? Did she argue - AT ALL - when we launched into Iraq? As I recall, at the time, she was quite busy warning us about the perils of video games.
....I will vote for McCain. I will never support anyone who runs the mean spirited, vicious campaigns the Clintons do. She has no integrity. I want Obama to win, but if he doesn't, I will choose a candidate who has integrity, even if that means it's a Republican.
A lot of people are excited about Obama's run, and a lot of people just aren't excited about Clinton's run (putting it politely as I can). That makes all of the difference. Clinton only barely beat "Uncommitted" in Michigan. That should be a big warning for the candidate.
Given the relative similarity between the candidates' stances (and, let's be honest, they are both distressingly center-right in their stances, which passes for leftism in America's woefully right-skewed political continuum), the politics of personality come into it in a big way -- that is, because Obama and Clinton are pretty close overall in their views, it comes down to which one more people like better (sorry, Edwards supporters -- your guy's finished), and more people like Obama than Clinton.
Obama brings in more people, and Clinton repels more people. It doesn't have to do with black/white and man/woman; it's just an issue of charisma -- Clinton's smart, but lacks Obama's charisma. Obama's smart, and has charisma to spare, so he's the better candidate in the personality game. The Clintonites resent the hell out of that -- we're just supposed to be so dazzled by Clinton's brains that we're supposed to ignore that she's just not charismatic, that she's uninspiring -- the John Kerry Effect. Obama will bring more people into the Democratic Party, and HR Clinton will drive them away (and energize the GOP against her) -- so, Obama's a winner, Clinton's a loser, at least along the lines of charisma and personality.
Charisma does matter in politics -- Bill Clinton would never have made it if he didn't have charisma to spare; he pissed me off with his political gutting of the Democratic Party, and I still like the guy. The trouble is, Bill can't teach Hillary charisma; you either have it or you don't. And she doesn't.
