Obama's historic run heads south

Did his victory in Iowa and strong showing in New Hampshire really "put to rest the notion that a black candidate can't win in America"?

    @Rosenkavalier

    Why don't you flip your comment the opposite direction:

    Story line: Four years ago in a country not far away young people joined in in unprecidented numbers to support the campaign of Howard Dean.

    The Democratic party's response: No Dean. He's not dignified enough for us. he's not a war hero.

    Result: young people didn't bother. Screw politics. Effing politics.

    Result: the Democratic party lost the election.

    Flash forward 2008:

    Story line: in a country not far away young people (and old) are joining in unprecidented numbers to support a candidate they can get behind: Barack Obama. Horray! I heart Obama! He's smart and he's a progressive. Groovy.

    The Democratic Party's response: ?? No Obama. He doesn't have thirty-five years of experience. (But how could he--he's only 48--too bad! He should have been on the campaign trail at 13, working for the Rose Law Firm, married to a former president--but that doesn't make sense? How could he get that kind of experience? Gay marriage is illegal.....Suck it up kid....)

    Result: ?? young people don't bother. Screw politics. Effing politicians.

    Result: ?? Democratic party loses the white house.

    Result: ?? Democrats win the white house by a close margin and lose senate seats and house seats and governorships....

    They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
