@dagome
What is MSM?
On Reagan - was he really that successful? He was a showman at best and could read scripted material very effectively, scripts that were written in doublespeak, by the neo-cons. Besides, he really did not have all his marbles in the White House.
Reagan's policies were only successful for the very rich and the well heeled. How do explain such a huge chasm between the rich and the poor, the homelessness of many mentally challenged people who were put out on the streets by Reagan as he slashed and burned Health Care and Human Services? How do you explain the unfairness in the media, with right wing punditry on 7x24 afer Reagan led legislation for the eardication of "fairness" in the media? How do you explain the shift of power from federal to the states where many people fell through the cracks on uneven state policies? How do you explain lobbyists for special interests who have accumulated so much power that they sit at congressional tables to strong arm laws that have made the insurance companies, pharamaceuticals, the AMA, to name just a few who have made enormous profits that would make your head spin? How do you explain Corporate welfare where CEOs make so much money, that 10 generations of their progeny need never earn a living as opposed to welfare for low income women and children who can barely make ends meet? Was Reagan really successful?
Yes. I completely agree with you, that Bill Clinton moved the Democratic party to the right of center. I have never forgiven him for that. And I fear, that Hillary Clinton is going to stay the course. Barak Obama is no better as he espouses Reagan admiration. Matter of fact, he also sounds very much like Bill Clinton when he ran in 2002. Barak Obama is also a right of center Democrat. So we can agree, that with either one of them, it will be business as usual. Neither one is equipped to "change" any culture in Washington.
No. Barak does not have to kiss any ring. But he has determinedly kept BLACK national leaders at arms length. That is hugely troublesome to me. He wants to cater to racial fears of his potential white voters and is in no way different than Bill Clinton when he played the race card trashing Sister Souljah.
But I will vote for the Democratic ticket, whoever wins the nomination through fair means or foul.

Don't Worry
Any criticisms I have against any of the candidates doesn't mean I'm not going to vote Democract - I am - I've never voted Republican and am very proud of that fact (even when it wasn't cool back in the day). But I'm very interested in politics and like listening to what others are saying - and I'm getting a very negative feel against the Clintons from a variety of sources. I've heard several people who have always liked Bill talk about how they are getting sick of hearing and seeing him - it's just too much Clinton. . And while I think most people I know will support whomever wins the Democratic nomination it concerns me more as to what will happen in the general election - that once again the Republicans will whip up their base and the Democrats that are really needed will just stay home. I've always been a big fan of both Clintons - and that's why I hate to see them lose their status now by going into a take no prisoners mode. Hillary is very well prepared to be President - and I don't think she needs to panic and engage in conduct that will hurt her in the general election. I think it would be better to risk winning by just focusing on her strengths and going after Bush so she can retain the support of Obama supporters should she win the nomination.

A lot of Americans fell in love with Reagan's "honeyed-tones" and Nancy -- they looked like American success ...
much as (many of the same people) fell in love with GWB and his Levi jeans and his little rather-mousy librarian wife ...
it's not surprising that some people "love" McCain in the battered war hero mode (see also GHWB and Bob Dole). It's stunning how Kerry's record was neutralized for the "war hero" crowd by his "winter soldier" work ... so much for supporting the troops.
I used to have a neighbor, a childhood friend actually, who loved Rush Limbaugh because he was "so sure of himself" and he made my friend feel secure. He also loved how his friends (like me) blew a gasket when he cited Limbaugh's opinions as his own. He said it proved he was an "independent thinker." For a very dyslexic high school drop out who often felt intellectually inferior, spouting Limbaugh's opinions made him feel grown-up, "independent" and powerful.
Never forget how many people swooned over GWB on the flight deck of "Mission Accomplished" ...
shallow? you betcha.

Obama All About Something New? I Don't Think So.
Obama and his people sound, look, and act more like nasty ass Republicans than Democrats. And is this the face of "change" and "hope?" Damn, I hope not. That looked and sounded more like people who wanted to win at all costs -and what's "new" about that?
Obama and his campaign needed to get those union reps under control or risk alientating voters. They didn't - and they did.
The guy can't even bring a Caucus room full of Democrats together - let alone a country! LMAO What a joke.
P.S. John Edwards didn't have the money to push his people to the caucuses. That's why he showed minimum support. Hardly typical though of those who support him.

The Real Obama Takes the Stage
I don't say this to be partisan but rather in the same light that observors the likes of Paul Krugman have noted, and that is that the version of republicanism brought to us by Raegan, inflamed by Gingrich, and metatastisized under the likes of Bush, Cheney, Delay etc. has proven that it simply is antithetical to the democracy of the United States. It is a failed philosophy. All you really have to do is go to New Orleans to see how it affects us domestically. Internationally there is Iraq and Iran. What can Obama be thinking by endorsing Reagan and suggesting the republicans have had better policies than the dems? No wonder Clinton decided to go for the jugular. The Clintons have actually stood for something and they have taken their beatings for doing so. I have respected Obama until now even though he was not going to get my vote. But to betray the progressive movement by basically endorsing what the republicans (with exceptions like McCain, Hegel) have been doing to us is just that, betrayal. Obama sided with unilateral war, Katrina, student loans with compound interest, neglecting our veterans, ruining education, soaring food prices, environmental holocaust, Enron, rolling blackouts, unfettered and unregulated capitalism, creationism, cronyism, corruption, incompetence, and egomania. I'm glad he keeps opening his mouth. Wake up Obama - its a war out there dude. Bill Clinton has the right to take the fight to this pup.
