Hillary on Timmy... Where is the negative smears?
I am reading all these reports about Hillary going negative on Obama. But all of these "quotes" are taken from Hillary's appearance on Timmy's MTP. I saw the whole interview and none of it constituted negative campaigning.
Could it be the press is lying about Hillary?
Walter, get off your ass and do some reporting.

Political Correctness - What happens when your opponent is not a white male?
I cannot but help notice the handwringing by the women's and black bloc about how either side should not be attacking each other because their real enemy are the white men. They seem to be fine friends indeed.
Worse, in a winner take all political system there can be no coalition. So as each side entrenches the fight will become more bitter. Niether blacks nor women want to be the one to back down first.
Both women and blacks have been shielded from criticism in a way that whites and men are not. The irony is that they are now finally getting a taste of what whitey has had to deal with. Neither side can use their precieved strength of playing the victim card while calling the other sexist or racist.
That is not a bad thing, is it?

Progressives...stop and take a deep breath!
Listen, all progressives need to stop and take a breath. We have come to a time in history that we have all dreamed of,with both an African American and a women running for president as serious canidates. This makes me so proud and I have been so proud to share it with my daughter, who has told me more than once that I did not raise her for this world we live in now. Please do not let the forces against progressive policies rob us of this moment.Do not let race/gender wars break out in our party! Let the Republicans and the pundits show their true nature with the smears they will be sure to make against either the women or the black canidate.I support Hillary but if Obama is nominated I want to be able to join with his supporters for a Democratic win. Let's not be at war with each other too much is at stake.

This is a Clinton problem more than an Obama problem.
I think that Walter Shapiro's article was unfair and misleading - he makes it sound like they're both to blame, when this past week it was clearly the Clinton campaign going after the Obama campaign - and Obama just defended himself. I think Shapiro does a disservice by not making that clear.

Arrogant Clintons
After Obama just got out of High School where he partied some like millions of his classmates, Bill Clinton was in the white house smoking Havana cigars and shagging subordinate employees at work young enough to be his daughter. What's your point about the teenaged Obama's choices? Hillary supported Bill's "adult" behaviour. That's women's rights from the Clinton wing of the Dems for you, the chance to be part of a harem.

Question for former President Clinton, et.al.
I have read and heard both you and Sen. Clinton declare that because Barack Obama voted, the same as Sen. Clinton, to continue to fund and support the troops when he came to the U.S. Senate, that means he has supported the war....that his opposition to the war has not been consistent. If we are to accept your position, does it not follow that Sen. Clinton has not been opposed to the war until very recently? That every vote she has cast to initiate and then continue the funding has also been in support of the war in Iraq?
On Meet the Press, Sen. Clinton said she has always opposed pre-emptive war, yet she voted to continue funding it. Seems to me, you can maintain that Sen. Obama has supported the war only if you agree that Sen. Clinton has consistently shown support for the war as well.

Orwell, always has the right take.
“Any dissent is silenced by growls from the dogs, and the meeting finishes to a fifteen-minute chorus of “Four legs good, two legs bad” from the sheep. ”From Animal Farm: George Orwell.
The primary debate has been reduced to : “Four legs good, two legs bad”. Demonization, contention, political naivete, looking for a savour, will lead to another “almost dead white man” winning. Adios Supreme Court.
Demonize and canonize, but remember they are politicians. And each one the first time they accepted a vote, got compromised.

There's a Simple Answer to the Question....
Will the battle for the Democratic nomination turn into a debate about race and gender? asks the subhead about the Clinton-Obama contest. Well, let's see. This is the Democratic Party we're talking about here. The Democrats almost always find a way to lose to the Republicans, no matter how difficult that might be. So...the answer is, obviously, YES.

Why is HRC comparing herself to LBJ?
As an Obama supporter, I believe that if Hillary Clinton wants to compare herself to the worst Democratic President this century, she's welcome to do so.
This was just bad judgment on Clinton's part, pure and simple. Her view seems to be that she must attack Obama everywhere, on every issue, and that's just not going to work. What kind of idiot says, "hey, I've got a good idea: I'll drive up my opponent's negatives by comparing him to MLK! And right before the national holiday that celebrates him!"

Candid Race and Gender
None of this is candid or hard. This is just a pissing match. The real issues of race and gender are : The economy, the war, the Supreme Court, healthcare, civil liberties and environment. The real issues of race and gender are not language, nuance, feelings, wrongs, pasts, presents, conspiracies, etc. This is a distraction.
This Jerry Springerism at its best.

stella; What are you afraid of?? The issues you listed also involve race and gender
What I have noticed is that liberals especially white and black liberals always seek to avoid direct confrontational issues like race and gender.
Black liberals( oft seeking validation of thier white counterparts) are always advising me to stop posting like a ghetto rat because I am making it bad for the rest of them
White liberals( oft seeking validation of thier black counterparts) are always advising me to stop posting as I am going to destroy the one group of whites left who care about Blacks and I am making it bad for everyone.
Of course we all know what my answers are to both of these pretenders..
