    You AJ!

Thanks for tipping me about how wrong I am! Whew! I can see where I went wrong what with my not having spoken to "Amiri Baraka" and having almost no exposure to Sufi Islam or Hinduism. And there I was, getting my theology from Matthew, Mark, Luke and John with the occasional Paul thrown in.

    Sufi Islam? You're a riot.

When the president's approval rating is stuck somewhere between 26% and 35% for over a year, that's pretty much the textbook definition of not doing very well.

So you make yourself look incredibly foolish with your disinginuous "HUH". Of course, not as foolish as actually voting for him in 2004, I give a free pass for 2000, even though people should have done their research and discovered Bush was an empty suited boob, I know people like you don't actually read that often. But in 2004, after experiencing the ineptitude of Bush for 4 years, you had no excuse.

At present, being a Republican is a great evil. That said:

mocking God may play well in cocktail parties on the upper east side but in the end, you will meet Him and be called to account for your entire life.

We ARE a Christian nation, founded under the watchful eye of the Christian God and the author of Christian morality and all denials to the contrary do not change this. Abortion in murder. Homosexuality is a perverse disorder. Etc. These truths will be driven home to all of you on the day you face your Creator. Your snide attitude and air of superiority won't serve you very well.

God is of our own making, and we will not meet "him" or anyone remotely answering your vision of him in the afterlife you posit absent any evidence. And should the unlikely come to pass, how will you answer for your arrogance and delusions?

I notice how eagerly far too many those who claim to believe in god presume he utterly supports their beliefs, and how they presume to speak for him to others. Lincoln once asked not if god was on his side, rather, was he on god's? Now, without positing a supreme being, for which there is not one iota of evidence, that is the question you, and many others like you, need to ask. And if you are on the side of a god that condemns, that demands, that curses and torments, then you, sir, serve something else. Something that is dark, malignant, and unworthy of mention, let alone worship. You then serve your own perverse power fantasies. And you are thus a very sick man.

And just to offer you one last refresher in American history, the founders of this country were largely Deists, not remotely the "christians" you presume them. This is a secular nation. Get used to it. Believe what you will, and accept that it is your private belief, not a public requirement.

Now, we return to our regularly scheduled interruptions...

  • Religious Lunacy Abounds

Why does the GOP attract the religious loonies?

Why, as it has been reported, did Jerry Falwell have such a strong influence in the GOP? Is it because the GOP is a party of sheep, waiting to be told how to think?

    Scary.

  • SaltyPappy One More Time...

Thank you, thank you! Hey, did you ever hear the one about the Zoroastrian who walks into a Persian rug dealer's shop on Eid...no, wait a minute...

Damn! I'm no good at planned humor, only the accidental kind. Glad you got a chuckle, confused by the "terrified" part, but uh...

I take it you don't like NYC any more than I do. Great place to visit, but no God anywhere. Well, there is that big sign, you know the one. I think it's owned by Sony now? Anyway...

To tighten and clarify my previous post, can't we just "render unto Caesar" what's his and repair to our Secret Place for our various religious experiences? Does it have to be so in-your-face?

I guess that one got a huge laugh...

  • Did you know that Iowa Caucus results are tallied by an Israeli intelligence firm?

You can't make shit like this up:

    http://www.rumormillnews.com/cgi-bin/forum.cgi?read=116052

Voxeo Corporaton is part of Elron, an Israeli defense intelligence firm. It's at times like this that I don't feel like I'm paranoid at all. There is yet another connection laid bare. All that remains is to add it up. Quacks, webbed feet...

  • Repent, Saltypuppy, before your carcass is forfeit.

One thing though. When I read these liberal blogs I am taken by how anti-God they all are. I mean, mocking God may play well in cocktail parties on the upper east side but in the end, you will meet Him and be called to account for your entire life.

Actually, it is YOU who will be called on by Odin to answer for your idolatry. For you have not sacrificed any of your slaves or male oxen to him as is meet. On the field of Ragnarök shall you surely face your swift and certain annihilation, as will all enemies of the One Eyed.

It is the great spear of Odin that shall be driven home, my unfortunate cousin. Straight through the breastplates of the mightiest of your so-called "Christian" warriors. And there shall be blood, and weeping, and weeping of blood through various artificial holes that He shall himself puncture.

Oh yes, you will know fear!

  • @Alan Lloyd

From a hopeless believer and incurable romantic to an apparent and most reasonable unbeliever, I'd just like to say: Wow! That was one incredibly beautiful, intelligent and admirably restrained post. I am awed to be on the same page with you (in more ways than one). If any Red Stars are handed out for this thread I hope one goes to you for that. We may not be in one-hundred per-cent agreement, you and me, on What's What About Stuff, but you know, it really doesn't matter.

I wish people like SaltyPappy could understand that so we could all just enjoy the moment. It's all we've got.

    Thanks again. Stunning.
