Here comes that lie again.
He didn't threaten to "wipe them off the map" but he did demand a governmental change in the hard right Zionist leadership that is now leading Israel.
I know not every journalist speaks Farsi, but translations are available. In the media's zest to make Ahmadinejad the next Hitler, they're making fools of themselves.

National security has never held a higher priority in the minds of Americans nor been used as a heavier bludgeon by any administration -- even during the McCarthy era -- than the recent interlude following the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The herd has been so easily spooked since reality struck us between the eyes that suddenly national security became the number one priority for most of us, who were willing to believe, because of that one, terrible but very isolated and remarkable incident, that we were infinitely vulnerable to evil outsiders and began to look to our so-called leaders for protection.
Like any good insurance salesman or bag man, Bush and Cheney took (or perhaps even created) the cue. We have, as a result, developed a national obsessive-compulsive behavior which is throttling us.
There is a great deal of difference between neurotic security-seeking in an inherently dangerous world and dealing with a given clear and present danger. Iran is no more a clear and present danger than was Iraq, and there were, in 2003, those of us here on the street who knew with reasonable certainty that Iraq was no immediate threat to us. If we knew it (and we went on record as knowing it at the time -- like Barack Obama did), then how much more certain was that knowlege held by the people who led us into the war with Iraq?
Iran seeks to be a major player again someday, and realizes that it was the west which cast it in its current role as a joke. It was important, first, then, for Bush, Cheney, et al, to recast Iran as the next Imminent Threat to our security. For those who have missed the feel of the breeze in their faces, that open, free and somewhat heady feeling which comes with significant liberty, you have to understand you traded it for a bicycle helmet. In a universe which appears at least at first glance to operate on principles of total randomness, in which nothing is absolutely guaranteed but certainly not good health, absolute safety and protection from the ravages of time, how can we possibly hope to function as a nation among nations when we are busy projecting our existential fears of annihilation on one small, different group of people after another?
For this reason, so long as Friends of the Military Industrial Complex occupy the White House and Congress, we will continue to be the recipients of lies which will line the pockets of the few while simultaneously feeding the insatiable addiction caused by inordinate power in the hands of dishonorable men and women.
Iran is not safe -- from us -- and no place is ultimately safe. There is a meteorite out there with our name on it, there is a stray bullet seeking some of us, a poisonous snake, a heretofore unrealized allergic reaction or a newly mutated virus which can and will kill. If there is a God he may well hate us all. At any rate, the universe is a dangerous neighborhood, and the surest way to clean it up is to stop battening on the blood of our neighbors as sacrifice to the gods of uncertainty.
So long as the deluded and those whose faces bear "the leer of pure, educated evil" are elected by us to help project our fears of everything upon someone or some thing we can control, poke, torture, destroy, then we will never have peace, neither in the world nor in our hearts. This is an article of faith with the current administration, so no amount of "intelligence" will by itself insure that we, as a nation, keep our hands to ourselves, and begin again to work on realizing our own enormous potential.
So long as there is fear to be sold or even felt, people like our feuhrer will continue to seek ways to sacrifice human lives -- American and otherwise -- in order to secure a legacy. That it is a legacy of shame, deceit and ultimate betrayal makes no difference.
The game hasn't changed; The stakes have simply gotten far higher than we ever realized they could.
For the people, our moment is not at hand but still almost a year away -- and could be wasted overnight.

I was wondering how long it would take for some idiot to write something like this. It's as inevitable as the sun rising in the east.
Since the rabid pro-Zionist policies of Bush and the 29%ers are in the process of being rejected by a majority of Americans and humans in general, the hapless defenders of this policy are left with only one alternative: call their opponents anti-semites.
According to this absolutely bankrupt worldview, if you don't want to launch an unnecessary war against a non-threatening country that will cost trillions, kill millions, and further harm the US' position in the world, then it's obviously because you support genocide against the jews. And, funny enough, the person left to spout this tripe rarely feels comfortable signing his name to his idiocy, generally preferring to be anonymous.

What a surprise.
There is an interesting trend on these pages, that the most insipid comments end with the word Anonymous.
And I quote:
The Zionist Organization of America condemned the U.S. government's Office for Civil Rights on Wednesday for failing to protect Jewish students it says have been subject to a series of anti-Semitic provocations on the campus of the University of California, Irvine.
The ZOA alleged that Muslim students on campus have given anti-Semitic speeches, distributed Judeophobic literature, and used intimidation tactics against Jewish students. The university's failure to take disciplinary action constitutes discrimination against Jewish students, the ZOA charges.
The Office of Civil Rights, which operates under the auspices of the Department of Education, said in a report released last week that some Muslim student activities were offensive to Jewish students.
But the report concludes the speeches, marches and other activities were based on opposition to Israeli policies, not the national origin of Jewish students.
"In its decision, OCR disregarded the fact that a Holocaust memorial was destroyed; that swastikas repeatedly defaced property on the campus; that a rock was thrown at a Jewish student; and that other Jewish students were harassed and verbally threatened with such statements as 'slaughter the Jews,' 'dirty Jew,' 'go back to Russia,' 'burn in hell,' and 'f_ _king Jew,'" the ZOA said in a press release.
In October 2004, the ZOA filed a complaint against the university under a federal statute which requires any body which receives government funding, including colleges and universities, make every effort to purge all forms of discrimination on the basis of race and ethnicity from its programs and activities.
"OCR has sent a devastating message to Jews - that we don't care about your legitimate fears or your psychological and physical well-being," said ZOA chief Morton Klein, who called the decision "a disgrace."

The funny thing is that UC Irvine's views are indistinguishable from those here. And the folks here who most defend it seem genuinely outraged that anyone call them on it. I give it 3 years, tops before a mini Kristallnacht happens in SanFran/Irvine and the LW's here will defend that too. Which is fine, really. It's the appeasers and liberal Jews on the left who are typically the first ones sent off to Dachau. Good luck with that.
