From around the country, Ron Paul's followers are descending on New Hampshire to go door-to-door for their man. But what do they really want?

as much as I like Ron Paul....

i think he is a bit of a loony. I mean really I admire the guy's frankness on just about any topic, but especially the Iraq war. and I like his black and white answers to questions posed to him (but then again, wasn't that the whole problem with Dubya too?).

But really, I know a couple of guys who adhere to the same school of thought as Ron Paul, ie Austrian economics. These guys are truly radical, true right wing anarchists and they really hate any form of government. When I discuss Austrian economic theory with them, then I truly am scared at the way these guys think. and that is why I kinda fear Ron Paul. Notice how Ron Paul hasn't really given any substantive ideas on how exactly he would establish the gold standard. What about all those CIA people his lays off when he abolishes the CIA? what about their informants in far flung places like Afghanistan? what about poor people who depend on government for medical services? what about government standards that ensure we have clean drinking water and all that? how will we monitor those corporate buccanneers bent on raping this planet? I mean the thing that is scary about people who adhere to Austrian economics is that they think its ok for people to die and "suffer" during the transition stage to pure market functioning system, when everything will just correct itself and we shall live in pure bliss, at the mercy of a harmonius operating economic system. I mean there has never been a perfect goverment. Government is only as good as the person running it, be it Democrat or Republican or Independent. and this only means that Ron Paul isnt the solution to the problems we are facing right now.
