  • Michelle Obama Gets Real

For those who think Barack Obama doesn't talk enough about Black issues or doesn't visit the 'hood enough, he's concerned about them; he wants to reach out to all of America. He has to care about more than his ethnic group. As an African American, I want to chastise other African Americans who want every Black candidate for elective office to be Afro-centric. Hello! We are tired of elected officials who seem to care only for their group. Now that there is an opportunity to vote for a highly qualified Black candidate, we ask really foolish questions such as, "Is he Black enough?" He seems to care also about Americans who are not Black! Omigosh, he wants to be President of all the people. What a revolutionary idea! My advice? Be sure brain is engaged before operating tongue, or in this case, your keyboard.

  • Re: Michelle Obama gets real

This article should be read in conjuction w/a profille of the Clintons in Vanity Fair Nov. '07 on-line, entitled "White House Civil War" which is an excerpt of Sally Bedell Smith's forthcoming book. The Clinton's are experiened, succesful politicians. It seems that the process corrodes the inner self. I wonder if it's the people or the process. Anyway, no matter whom you support, I encourage you to take a look.

  • Responding to the Responder

Sorry I couldn't respond to notmyname and the other anonymous responder from yesterday (we lost Internet connection yesterday afternoon). Anyway, while my sister's experience with Michelle is from college and I recognize that people can change (I certainly have), I am also referring to how Michelle has treated one of her so-called oldest friends. I won't put her name out there because she's not a public personality but Michelle has treated her absymally over the years including very recently. She has hurt her friend quite a bit. Even still, this friend has said many positive things about Michelle to the press when some of the first interviews about Michelle discussed her Princeton years.

I'm not saying I wouldn't support them if Barack is the party's nominee but no one in my family is jumping on the Michelle Obama train. I hope she has grown more as a person especially now that she's a mother, but I think Michelle is much more like Hillary than people realize.

  • reticent?

    Sorry Xrandadu,

what I think you meant to say was, "I 'couldn't' care less."
