No Nuanced, Wise Comment Here
Impeach these creeps! Acknowlege the deep divide in the USA. Give up the idea that we might get along.
Can you believe they do not want to help little kids? Impeach.
Impeach them, please, even if you do not have thae override votes. Ask the question, and separate yourselves and us from them. Even if you fall short, you will vindicate yourselves and us.

The uninsured will infect the insured. Voila. Universal Healthcare.
The news is full of drug-resistant MRSA infections which are now out of the hospital and into the community--big time. We're also hearing about drug-resistant TB. I suspect universal healthcare will become a reality once those who are confident they'll always have insured healthcare, realize that those who Don't have insurance are going untreated into classrooms and hospitals and gyms, mingling in Saks and Walgreens and Walmart AND infecting those who do HAVE insurance.
And guess what? The untreated, uninsured who carry MRSA are going to share it with everyone because they have no choice.
And guess what else? There's equipment out there right now (mostly in VA hospitals) that can reliably deliver a nose-swab culture to identify MRSA in a few hours--NOT days; So, why did a boy die while docs waited for days to get a diagnostic culture back? Is there any possibility the hospital didn't have the equipment to test in-house, in hours, not days?
Now, what do we, the great unwashed, learn from the news; wash our hands and don't take antibiotics. Sure, just like we've been hearing for years. Where's the rest of the story? It's about diagnosing and fast. You can't wait for a culture that takes three days when you've got a disease that kills in one or two.
With all the news uproar about MRSA, why aren't we hearing about hours-not-days-MRSA-culture capability? Could it be? MONEY. The equipment is probably costly. Does insurance cover it? WHO PAYS???
Wait until our esteemed let-em-go-to-the-emergency-room pols catch a case of untreatable MRSA from an uninsured classmate or restaurant worker, or kiddie park, then watch how attractive and affordable universal healthcare becomes.
At some point, they're going to realize that if SOME of us are contagious, they're government-insured butts are gonna get it, too.
HELLO universal healthcare. Or, at least, insurance for the children of the working poor.
Sorry for the rant. I just resent seeing kids so at risk when it's so unnecessary.
And I resent being fed a wagon-full of pointless blather about soap when the equipment is out there to deal with this bug efficiently.
And while I'm at it, if we're so overdosed with antibiotics, why do I have to pay at least 200% more to get meat that and milk that don't come from animals that have been pumped full of them.
End of second rant. Scusa.
Ummm. If you think you or your family have a bad skin infection, INSIST on the fast culture for MRSA. Your life could depend on it.

Impeachment Lite
They won't impeach, sorry to say. I wish to my bones that they would summon the balls and the outrage and the sense of duty to the Constitution to do it, but they won't. So we'll have to settle for burying the GOP for the next 40 years or so.
I say, let them hang themselves. Let them swing from a gibbet of Larry Craig hypocrisy, Jack Abramoff corruption, Iraq war lies, no healthcare for kids greed and the endless, foul attacks on children of creatures like TrAnn Coulter and Rush Limbaugh. The Repugnants have no idea how little their right wing Christian pals will help them when 80% of the rest of the country thinks they're full of shit and incompetent.
That's the best we can hope for and I'll take it: the burial of the conservative movement and the GOP for a generation or more. Maybe by then we can undo most of the damage Bush has done and amend the Constitution so Congress can oust a president with a vote of no confidence, as they do in the UK.

Heh...

Nah. Watch for them to press for government subsidies of gated communities so them and theirs will never have to run into any of the "filthy masses" unless the latter have been sufficiently sterilized. :)

Health care - Do you want some government bureaucrat making healthcare decisions for you?
Hell yeah!
I'd much rather some government bureaucrat (whose only interest is in clearing the paperwork off his desk) deciding which medical treatments I and my family are allowed to have than some corporate drone (whose annual bonus depends solely on how much medical care he denies my family and I).

Commie Universal Healthcare?
We pay taxes so that our children can get a good education and we call it responsible parenting...not socialized education. We pay taxes so that our cities and towns can be clean and we call that good sanitation...not socialized hygenics. So why then do so many people fear universal healthcare? It makes no sense! Unfortunately there are some who can't kick the "better dead than red" days of the cold war.
Currently our children and grandchildren are set to foot the bill for our "liberation" of Iraq and all of that money spent could have provided universal coverage for years...and at least our progeny would have had something to show for the money we spent. I am all for the idea of suspending healthcare to all federal government workers so that they can see what its really like for the average American. In six months I guarantee you would have a system in place to rival France...and as an American living in that country, I can tell you the weight which is lifted off of your shoulders when you know you don't have to worry about your health or that of your family is priceless.

California
There are several seats in Congress that are Repugnicon here in California that are considered safe (gerrymandered) seats. These are the Congresspeople that will vote to uphold the veto believing themselves to be 'safe'. But, what they don't seem to get is that their constituents are rural people who may support the war but are at the same time working people who have no health insurance. These voters may not take kindly to their representative vetoing a bill that could bring health insurance to their children even though they themselves can't get it. It is worth pointing out to these potential voters in a campaign, just how they and their children have been screwed by their Repugnicon Represenstative. I suspect this will prove true across the U.S. and it can create a break from the RNC by these people when they realize that their interests are not being served.
