More than just political child's play, what Bush's SCHIP veto portends for the 2008 elections and beyond.
  • California

There are several seats in Congress that are Repugnicon here in California that are considered safe (gerrymandered) seats. These are the Congresspeople that will vote to uphold the veto believing themselves to be 'safe'. But, what they don't seem to get is that their constituents are rural people who may support the war but are at the same time working people who have no health insurance. These voters may not take kindly to their representative vetoing a bill that could bring health insurance to their children even though they themselves can't get it. It is worth pointing out to these potential voters in a campaign, just how they and their children have been screwed by their Repugnicon Represenstative. I suspect this will prove true across the U.S. and it can create a break from the RNC by these people when they realize that their interests are not being served.
