  Two Can Play This Game

  In the left-hand column of the letters section, Glenn Greenwald asks: "Are Democrats planning still worse FISA capitulations?"

  Gee, ya think?

  In Salon's hometown, San Francisco - a city which activists would shut down in a heartbeat if The World Bank was to hold a conference there - Nancy Pelosi says "Impeachment is off the table," and no one lifts a finger to demand a reversal of that decision. Nope. Tomorrow will be just another day in San Francisco.

  Hey, whaddya gonna do, say the Democratic Party Faithful with a shrug. Joan Walsh and many frequent letter-writers at Salon absolutely agree with the Democrats' refusal to uphold their oaths to protect and defend The Constitution. Gotta be pragmatic. In the national security state, laws are for the little people. It's okay if Iraqis keep getting slaughtered and Americans keep getting slaughtered and the bombing plans for Iran are finalized. It's okay we have no Constitutional protections anymore. It's okay that lawless surveillance is the order of the day. Unfortunate, yes. But okay. Why, it would be impolitik to hold anyone accountable for anything. Serious people have elections to consider, and what could be more important than that? Absolutely nothing.

  If Salon Liberals want to drag out the old broad brush and indict Texans for George W. Bush's crimes, by all means, go right ahead.

  And while you virtuous, enlightened cocksuckers are at it, this Texan suggests y'all take a long, hard look in the mirror and ask yourselves exactly what the fuck you have done to hold The Democratic Party accountable for its role as Bush's indispensable accomplice in the systematic dismantling of The Constitution. If y'all are half as honest in y'all's self-assessment as you are in claiming moral superiority over any given Texan, the answer will be Not jack shit. Or whatever regional colloquialism applies.

  Salon is chock fucking full of people who will always find an excuse to absolve The Democratic Party - and, by extension, themselves - for its complicity in the litany of crimes against The Republic and the world beyond our borders. Face it: No matter how badly the Democratic Party betrays the nation, y'all are going to find some rationalization for rewarding it when the next election rolls around.

  And the one after that.

  While a good many of my fellow Texans were - and continue to be - hyper-religious, neo-Fascist half-wits eager to sacrifice themselves and their loves ones on the altar of neoconservatism, in no way does this change the fact a good many of y'all are malleable, obedient pussies content (and often eager) to sacrifice yourselves and your loved ones to an endless cycle of abuse by your corporate-owned masters. Same altar. Different brand.

  Isn't it great to learn how much you have in common with people you hate?
