This is just the beginning of what must be a continuing process on the part of the Democrats if they are to communicate a resonant message.

IT is difficult to communicate your message when you are open minded about virtually everything and your voters are too.

The Republicans have a religious dogma which can be called upon like notes on a keyboard ...making their brothers and sisters (in Christ) dance to the tune they were taught to fear since childhood - sins of omission, the ones your not always aware of until the Holy Spirit (or Republican manipulator) shocks you with a fear born in childhood of how the heathens will win if the Churches do not get out the vote. ....

Brain-washed masses, who brainwash their children (psychological abuse), are unbeatable in the voting booth - if their Leader (pastor or president) stokes their paranoia with biblical ‘fact’ of how dangerous the Heathens (centrists) and the Enemy are. (islamists going to hell swaddled in the Wrong religion)

It is a nearly impossible battle if Conservatives can stoke the fear factor, which is the panic button of their dogma...

I thought about voting for Hillary and felt sick…must I ask forgiveness? Is Ms. Hillary like Satan? - like pastor Bob said? She may be - Satan is very sneaky - He comes into your life in different forms…esp female forms, never let a woman touch your private parts or you will surely go to hell…Uh Oh, I’m going to hell, I may as well, kill myself…No, no Honey pray and ask forgiveness and you will already be forgiven by the blood of the cross (in case you forget a sin or two)…your sins are paid for, now go out and fight for Christianity and do your best and you will be rewarded with streets paved with gold - in eternity, (money, always money and death, then Love everyone). Except those God tells His chosen ones to slaughter - every man, women and child - to rid the world of dangerously productive heathens (threatening their Godly income, blessed for their works, and they need to tithe to their God - heads)

The Republicans are graded by God, the Voters led to the polls by God, like sheep over a cliff.

The Democrats need real live thinking voters - of all Socioeconomic clusters, if we are to do God’s work and truly help the needy, and love our Islamic, black, Mexican, Russian, Chinese, Iranian, Iraqi… neighbors.

I want Jim Webb to be the candidate for this next Presidential election. He wasn't afraid to take on Bush when Mr Webb was asked how Mr Webb's son was doing. He merely stated that that was none of Bush's business. I also listened to the State of the Union and loved what Mr Webb had to say upon the ending of the Speech...He is a real man, not some type of a liar and a coward that Bush has portrayed himself to be, ie afraid to go to war during Viet Nam. I will give Mr Webb my vote and hope that he wins "hands down" I know that we will be in safe hands with him in as President.

I think the Democratic party is crippled by the fact that the country needs a true opposition party, and they aren't willing to be one. They could potentially win votes by carving out a real opposition stance, but they would alienate the business classes and interests that otherwise support their elections...including those owning all of the major media, which is their only way to communicate with like 3/4ths of the population of the country.

So what would happen, if by some miracle, a truly different candidate won? They'd either be 1) impeached on some trumped up and/or idiotic charge (blow jobs versus an illegal war?), 2) shot, or 3) rendered a lame duck and/or stalemated by the congress, who gets paid by that same set of interests.

So they run unwinnable candidates. Anyone who thinks either Hillary C. or Obama are viable candidates is a fool. The GOP could run just about anyone, posited effectively as an alternative to GW Bush...and win. And that's exactly how they are positing themselves. If you notice, they are barely saying boo against the Dems. They aren't bothering, because their real competition is the other GOP candidates and they know it.

The reality is, as someone said here...the oligarchy rules. The Dems seem to lack principle because, in essence, and minus a few social issues, they have the exact same principles as the Republicans...which makes it difficult to posit themselves as an alternative. That's why they haven't stopped the war. That's why they haven't impeached Bush. Everything is smoke and mirrors trying to hide that fact.

I'm talking the REAL issues of this country, the ones the social issues try to mask and obscure -- the fact that the Supreme Court is systematically dismantling all of the anti-trust regulations so that massive conglomerates can control prices all the way up the production chain, the fact that we are going to be forced to carry national IDs in 2008, the fact that we've legalized torture and are dismantling the Bill of Rights...you know, the stuff that will affect all of us, no matter what our race or gender or religion, the stuff that will give our children a legacy of fake freedom and fear.

The only potential candidate with any integrity that I've seen is Gore...and due to alternatives #1, 2 and 3 above, I think he's decided, "No thank you."

And who can blame him? He can probably do a lot more good where he is, and he's smart enough to know it.
