Booed or not, Hillary is a DLC agent of the same ilk as those who, like her husband, backed the death penalty, Walmart-friendly tax policies, smarmish religious confessions, and the corporate war economy, rather like Lieberman the "independent." I'm glad she can show us a nice smile and, indeed, she looks very cute, but don't get too close trying to feed her a peanut, something enjoyed more by elephants than donkeys—she'll bite your finger to the bone. If the blogosphere can be bought off so cheaply we're in more trouble that I thought.
Leave it to Salon to post a Hillary puff piece with the letter posts supporting Ron Paul. Hillary is a big government insider and considers us all serfs. Be careful what you wish for!!!
All of the anti-freedom legislation enacted during BushII was put in place for ClintonII. The powers that be know she is sinister enough to implement it. She will continue to throw out the charm to make her "election" plausable. I agree, big goverment candidates are the same from either party. It's quite obvious, Hillary works for the corporatocracy not American citizens.
I attended the Democratic convention in San Diego. I'm sad to say I observed the biggest collection of media manipulated misfits playing right into the hands of big business. This disapointment in Democrat options led me to Mr. Paul.
If one respects the value of a constitutional republic governed by the people for the people, please look into what Ron Paul has to say. He speaks to free thinkers from both the left and right dialectic and sounds like he knows what is right for this country.
The soldiers who are ORDERED to fight in Iraq prefer Mr. Paul as their next Commander-in- Chief. Personally I prefer RP as an opportunity to turn the Distric of Columbia inside out. I will bet on the long shot if Mr. Paul is even given the chance to run.
P.S. Barry Manilow supports Ron Paul too.
The picture of Hillary Clinton on the front page of your site is a terrible picture. A terrible picture.
So, of course you had it up there all day long. Are you trying to give ammunition to the Hillary Haters? Are you a secret Republican? Give me a break.
Have your son or daughter call the folks at the Grand Canyon, and ask how old it is. They won't tell you. Why? They are not allowed to anymore. (Creationists. Can't offend the creationists)
Would this be happening if Kerry were president?
All these new laws to fight terrorism, none used to stop abortion clinic bombers and terroristic threats against doctors.
Same under Kerry? Ummm... no.
Look at the Supreme Court nominees. Look at the attorney firings. Would Kerry have appointed Alberto Gonzales? Seriously?
Time to take the blinders off. I'm not a Kerry fan, but how could you say there was no difference??
"The booing immediately drowned Kucinich out. He had committed a cardinal sin, demeaning the Democratic Party before a crowd that works countless unpaid hours a week to make the party stronger." Just like telling military families that the Iraq War is a disaster. But is it really better to tell them what they want to hear and hope everything works out in the end? How will such denial make the party stronger?
Either it is true that people don't vote because they don't perceive any difference between the Democrats and the Republicans, or it isn't true. If such people don't really exist, it's nothing to get exercised about. But if they do--and I would have thought it's a truism--then the Democratic Party needs to show them that it IS different, presumably through its actions. Those non-voters won't go away just because the candidate who pointed out their existence got booed. The booers' arrogant message is that it isn't up to the Democratic Party to earn people's votes; it's up to the electorate to vote solidly for the Democratic Party regardless of what it does, simply because it's not the Republican Party.
The bottom line is that the progressive bloggers (surely not all of them, to be fair) didn't want to hear Kucinich point out this fact because they themselves realize that the difference is far smaller than they'd like, and they got defensive. But what is their plan to increase that difference? Serve as enforcers and demand that progressives vote unanimously for the Democratic Party, then hope that it doesn't ignore them after they've served their purpose? (Hope over experience.)
What more do people like me want Hillary Clinton to do about her pro-Iraq War vote? Three little words: "I was wrong." Sure, she's afraid she'd look weak. But trust me, if she can't admit such an obvious mistake she's bound to look even weaker. (Remember the HAPPY DAYS episode where Fonzie said "Ralph, I was wrrrrrrrrrrrnnnnnggggg..."?)

Dear Editor,
IMHO Art Guerilla deserves at least 2 red stars. While you are at it, please explain what it is that gets your attention in awarding the red stars. I went to the "editor's choice only" page and discovered just 4 letters. Huh? Only 4? I read them and felt I was reading USA Today. Safe, "sane", and clearly polite.
I want to live in the same neighborhood as Art G. Well, maybe not; just need to hear more from Art.
Good stuff going on here.
I wish Salon would stop using Republican ideas, repackaged. Clinton is no liberal, she's a centrist corporate shill.
Riddle me this people...
How much Reagan/Bush freedom erosion mischief did Bill Clinton undo?
How much do you seriously think Hillary would do to reverse the damage wrought by Bush Jr? I think she plans on *using* the massive power Bush has accrued to the executive branch, rather than giving any of it back.
There is a difference between (centrist) Dems and Republicans. Democrats raise taxes.
How come the "no difference" argument seems to be embraced mostly by people who otherwise would vote Dem? The argument is neutral from a political point of view, so it should be embraced equally by both Dems and Repubs.
But it's not.
I recall reading Gloria Steinem many years ago suggesting that the "no difference" argument gained traction in the public discourse right about the time that blacks and women, i.e., large, Dem-leaning constituencies, began participating in politics to a greater extent than ever before.
If she's right, what an interesting coincidence.
