The Salon Interview: Elizabeth Edwards

On her confrontation with Ann Coulter, why she backs gay marriage -- and why Edwards is a better choice for women than Hillary Clinton.

Coulter misses the point...

"Oh yeah, I wouldn't insult gays by comparing them to John Edwards. That would be mean. But about the same time -- you know -- Bill Maher was not joking and saying he wished Dick Cheney had been killed in a terrorist attack. So I've learned my lesson. If I'm going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I'll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot."

*****

I've read several letters from Coulter supporters complaining that Coulter was misquoted and/or taken out of context. What I notice is that Coulter seems to have completely missed Maher's entire point! I quite frankly don't understand Coulter's reasoning or lack thereof.

Maher's comment re: Cheney death saving thousands of lives as it would have prevented the Iraq war since Cheney was apparently one of the main idea men behind the war (I wouldn't have made the comment myself as he is Vice President but just explaining it for those like Coulter that don't seem to understand it). Suggesting Edwards being "killed in an assassination plot" since he was not involved in planning the war (as were Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove, etc) makes little to no sense and makes Coulter look clueless and misses the point of Maher's entire comment while also being esp. rude and tasteless since Edwards' wife is undergoing a serious illness.

By the way...Hitler

Isn't time you went back to the zoo? The other apes miss you.

Tuesday, July 31, 2007 10:51 PM

Shitler

You're the faeces passing through Cheney's bowels.

Monday, July 30, 2007 08:25 PM

Deathkitty = Hitlery's polyp

You are a polyp in Hitlery KKKlinton's colon, deathkitty.

Achtung Hitler

Better Hillary's butt than Georgie's or Cheney's where yours seems to be permanently lodged. No wonder you're having trouble seeing the light.

Sunday, July 29, 2007 08:30 PM

Come up for air, deathkitty

Your head seems to be quite stuck in Hitlery's arse. Unplug it and come up for light and fresh air.

Hitler

Ah, not had your electro-convulsive therapy yet. It explains a lot.

(It'd take a plane to get round Hillary's arse. Meanwhile, don't get exhausted licking Guilliani's).

deathkitty ...

Not out kissing Hitlery KKKlinton's gigantic rear end tonight?

Tuesday, July 24, 2007 12:36 AM

Heil Hitler...y

Not out burning crosses tonight?

Monday, July 23, 2007 07:24 AM

Deathkit

Break the red pills in half, honey. You are about to overdose.

Cogito ergo bam

Whack*%#!thump#%*!Kabam#@%&*!

Pow!!**#@!crunch#@$%*!thwack*&%#@!!

That pretty much sums up how Hitler...y addresses those who disagree with him. He bares his teeth like a Rottweiler but has none of the Rottweiler's intelligence or good looks (if he were a knock out do you think he would be raging non-stop on Salon?)

Instead of offering a thoughtful, analytical examination of Elizabeth Edward's comments and those of her admirers, Hitler prefers to thump like a Baboon with his fists. He goes for the jugular like a mad dog with rabies. Much of his babbling would win him awards at a KU Klux Klan convention, or what amounts to the same thing, an Ann Coulter fan club (civilized people need not apply). But here on Salon it's just embarrassing---like Tom Cruise jumping up and down on Oprah's couch was.

And, oh, what a clown he is too. If you support John Edwards, or plan to vote for him, well,...it must be because you "love Cuba", want America to "become like Castro's little hell hole", you commie you. (Like America needs guidance from Castro to act like fascists!) And this from someone who signs off as Hitlery! -(yeah, I get that if you insert l in place of t it becomes Hillery ...who but a right wing loon would be threatened by pro-business, centrist, Neo-liberal (pro-market) Hillary.)-. By voting for John Edward's? You want to be like Castro's Cuba? Haw, haw haw, hee, hee hah, hah!!! Oh, Hitler...y, that lobotomy has robbed you of all reason. And that Elizabeth...she's just a no good "opportunist who will stoop to exploiting her tragic illness to elicit sympathy and rake in the campaign cash" (if that isn't the pot(head)calling the kettle black! What was Georgie up to if not using the tragedy of Terry Schiavo for vile ideologial ends. But that's okay, see, he's a Republican.)

And to cap it off, he informs us "America was not built on socialist ideas". Really, Sherlock. You mean plutocratic, inegalitarian, unfair, hater of the poor, imperialist, undemocratic (both parties share the same ideology and corporate largesse) America wasn't. Gee, thanks for telling me I might have formed a false impression and moved there! Phew! saved by the bell. You mean the America where millions of its citizens have no health insurance and medicine and higher education are accessible to the few? That America, isn't socialist. My, oh my, you learn something every day. It's clear Hitler...y missed out on an education, not to mention some manners.

Dear AFedUpMom

I pity you more than ever. You have your "liberal" (Weren't you calling yourselves "progressives" these days?) blinders on 24/7. That's why sympathy pimps like John Edwards and race pimps like Jesse Jackson lead you around by the nose. You are "americans" indeed. The rest of us are Americans. You don't love America, you love Cuba and wants this country to become just like Castro's little hell hole.

America was not built on socialist ideals. The early colonial experiments with collectivism were a complete failure. They wised up and started building the greatest country in the world with personal responsibility and hard work - concepts that are the contrary to liberalism. You won't usurp their hard work and mine to foster your neo-Marxist dung. Real Americans will stand in your and Elizabeth Edwards' way.

Saturday, July 21, 2007 08:23 AM

Save your pity for yourself --

it involves contempt and a misplaced sense of exemption -- and sorry, hitlery, but we're all in this together with Elizabeth Edwards -- or didn't you get your free copy of the handbook "death and taxes..." when you were born?

Elizabeth Edwards IS someone to admire. I like her, I respect her, I hope we all can be -- at least a little bit -- like her. She has grace, and grit, and has faced more than most people can stand -- and she's not only still standing, but seeking to make things better while doing it. Whoever you think 'liberals' are -- we're (1) americans and (2) more than tough and willing to fight, we just like to know who or what hit us first before we hit back. It's more efficient and effective that way. A quirk, if you will.

My support of John Edwards is not contingent on my sympathy or empathy for his partner and wife, but my admiration of her doesn't hurt him either. In the wider world, hitlery, you might want to consider global and national issues when deciding who you should support in the election of 2008 and the run-up to them. maybe your mom - or at least one of your teachers - should have told you: think before you speak. study hard. this isn't english 101 -- this is about the world and every single one of us - blue state or red state. when you are blind with the kind of anger you just show what you are - blind. and you certainly don't have to be this angry over a decent woman who we could only use more of....
