  • Chris Dodd & Joe Biden

After reading the articles about and interviews with Joe Biden and Chris Dodd I am thinking these are two men who could beat any of the herd of Republicans out there. I not sure I could say that about any of the front-running Democrats.

I wish them both the best of luck.

  • Senators Dodd and Biden

Good men, capable and articulate. But their clubbiness (A senatorial vice) is their undoing. Sen Lieberman has stabbed both these men in the back and they pretend it never happened. These guys are not tough or ruthless enough to get into a Presidential finals.

  • Every generation has its cadre of perenially almost candidates

Biden, Dodd, Gephart. It really means nothing - it's just part of the process. We hang some bunting, wave the red white & blue. They say their piece they get to leave DC for a few months and cruise around on a bus, away from the wife and kids 'talkin straight and tellin us how it is....'

It's way more interesting than ponderous nonsense from Populist crypto fascists like Wesley Clark any day or lord knows those retards Ron Paul and Mike Gravel.

  • Very Disturbing

Isn't it a sad commentary when the 2 people running on the Democratic ticket with the most relevant experience, Biden and Dodd get so little press. America had better wake up before they put another criminal Clinton in the White House or someone with so little foreign policy experience that it rivals the experience George Bush had i.e. Obama and we know what happened there.

  • I'll be damned

Every time I hear or read Dodd, I come away impressed...not just on a policy level, but the level way he states his policies and makes the case for himself. I'd say this is one guy who hasn't been ruined by his Senate experience. And I'd seriously take issue with Alan Bennet's take on Dodd's handling of the Leiberman thing. Are we to hold it against Dodd that he honored a 30-year relationsship with Joe to support him in the primary and then honored his relationship with the state's voters to campaign against Joe in the general? Are we looking for petty, back-stabbing, bomb throwing narcissists or are we looking for mature people with some sense of statesmanship?

  • It's NOT about electability

    or rather, it shouldn't be.

We desperately need to purge the current administration's stench from the White House but I think Dodd is wrong about voters wanting an "electable" candidate. That's the path of good intentions and we all know where that leads.

Voters are smarter than that. Most people I know who care about politics (and those are the only people who care about 2008 at this point) are waiting to hear detailed plans on more issues. What are the candidate's plans in Iraq? Who besides Edwards has a comprehensive health policy?

I like Dodd's proposed expansion of the Americorps. I'm waiting for more policies, not factoring in someone's charisma. That's exactly the kind of thinking ("who'd you rather have a beer with?" journalism) that gets us into terrible situations.

  • Oh, dear, it's Miss Nancianne

I think the world of Senator Dodd and have appreciated his work and his clean logic for years, and yes, it would be great if he "got more press" and somehow became a viable candidate. But to suggest the leading rival for the nomination right now is "another criminal Clinton" is a remarkably stupid thing to say. This poster poser has submitted six letters thus far to enlighten us at Salon; the first was to decry the dethroning of the execrable Imus, and the other five have been hysterical screeds against Senator Clinton for reasons beyond my comprehension and possibly stemming from some unfortunate experience in childhood with a blonde nanny or something. I have donated to several candidates thus far, including Senator Dodd, but above all I want a Democrat to win the White House and I'm not going to do the GOP's work for them by slashing and ripping any Democratic candidate. That way lies madness.

  • dear doc,

I have so many facts that prove that Mrs. Clintonis a totally disingenuous person and not to be trusted. She is being repackaged and air brushed beyond recognition. I would like a responsible Democrat in the White Hlouse but not at the expense of having someone who has unbridled quest for power and no moral compass.

  • Nancianne

"I have so many facts that prove"

Sure you do. You should remember to take your medication at the same time every day. And take every pill your psychiatrist has told you to take. Just because you feel better for awhile, it doesn't mean you don't need your medication any more.

  • power and the presidency

"I would like a responsible Democrat in the White House but not at the expense of having someone who has unbridled quest for power and no moral compass."

Like it or not, an "unbridled quest for power" is pretty much a requirement to aspire to the Presidency. Brings to mind something I'm fond of quoting:

There is something fundamentally wrong with the person whose answer to the question, "What's wrong with the world today?" is, "I'm not in charge."

    Sorry to burst your bubble.

  • Sick of "electability"

I get impatient with questions about elecatability, and no patience for people who back a candidate based on who other peopel will vote for. Come on, it's 16 months before the election. If we can't back who we really want at this point, when the *&^% can we?

So I'll stick with Kucinich for the sake of impeachment, getting Iraq right from the beginning, and single-payer. Screw the polls. I have to admit though, I'm impressed enough with Dodd to make him my second choice. He did himself some good in this interview.

  • The "Iranian Emergency"?

Abdullah in Jordan tells me that the Israelis may have been a problem, but it dwarfs the Iranian emergency.

The "Iranian Emergency"? What emergency is that? Whose emergency? Israel's emergency? What country is he speaking to Syria on the behalf of? The same one that Pelosi spoke on behalf of? Did he mean to say the next up and coming "preemptive" war that the Democrats gave Bush the green light?

Dodd, just another Zioclown. Don't expect him to object to "defending Israel(i and US interests) at all costs" aka "go ahead and nuke Iran". He has "favors" to repay to his special interest masters.

I guess it doesn't take much to buy "doves" lock, stock, and barrel.
