Why Democrats dumped gun control

Monday's shooting at Virginia Tech is a reminder that the party that once championed gun control has been running away from it since the 2000 election.

Arm Students and Faculty to the Teeth

What a fucking brilliant idea these people are spouting! Let's arm 19-23 year olds on college campuses with handguns. If they had handguns they could protect themselves from the occassional deranged shooter.

They could also shoot em off after a round of binge drinking. It's a lot of fun to shoot guns on a target range or a controlled hunting situation. Toga parties where you bring your Smith & Wesson and shoot up the place after you get tanked is not the place or time but if guns are on campus, it will happen.

If you didn't bring a gun of your own, you can always break into a room and find one because they will be everywhere. Maybe go take out a fraternity if you don't get rushed. Muffy doesn't get on the cheerleading squad, she should have a pill and a beer and go get revenge.

The NRA is a well funded, well oiled machine. To cross it means that you have a new enemy. A politician who advocates the slightest hint of gun control will have his/her district peppered with leaflets and fliers scaring residents and urging them to secure their safety and not vote for the 'gun nut'.
