Edwards for President
I've been impressed with John Edwards since I saw him speak at a campaign stop in Denver during the 2004 elections. He impressed me then, as he impresses me still, as a genuine individual with the best interests of the American Citizenry in mind and at heart.
It is my sincere hope that he will secure the nomination for President. Finally we have a candidate talking straight with us and inspiring us with the idea that we can indeed improve this nation and the lives of its citizens.
Most Presidential races are defined by money, money and more money. It's not necessarily which candidate has the best ideas or the best ways to carry them out, but who has cash, star appeal and name recognition. It lowers the race to be elected to the greatest office in the land into nothing more than a high school popularity contest.
And what to say of most Presidential candidates? The "front runners" of this race on both sides (with the exception of Edwards and Obama) seem to be nothing more than career politicians who will give any empty phrase or platitude to keep office. No wonder nothing gets done in this country. We keep electing the empty suit with meek, unispiring ideas.
I truly hope that John Edwards will become President. And I keep his wife Elizabeth in my prayers.
