Conserva-babe and star-in-the-making Rachel Marsden has a, um, colorful past. What was Fox thinking?

  • If the job doesn't work out for her on Fox

she can always get a job on Cheaters.

  • Conserva-babe

I guarantee you that a battery of personality profile tests would reveal this person to be a psychopath. It's only the extreme form of this profile that commits violent acts. Otherwise these types are all over the place in business, education, military and entertainment. Glib liars, low empathy, little ability to feel guilt. In an instant they'll accuse someone falsely of something innappropriate or even of a crime if it suits their agenda at the moment.

    Very dangerous people.

I spent 35 years in the corporate world and I estimate that 2 in 10 complaints of sexual harrassment are totally manufactured by this personality type.

  • It's easy...

...to see what a flaky father and too much testerone can do and has done to the likes of Marsden. Coulter and Ingraham are the same as are a younger version of Peggy Noonan and Phyllis Schlafly. Fox should hire them all, manly women as they already have womanly men like Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, GWB and Cheney and Rice. Male over compensation, cowboys, are a cover up for feelins and actual gender inadequacy.

And that is why they hate gays so much, gays strike too close to home for the aforementioned. Normal real men don't need to go around hating gays in order to make themselves feel more masculine. Normal women also don;t need to go around and through their daily lives hating lesbians.

The constant and unending homophobia by the right wingers is very telling. Same as is the behavior of pedophile priests. Religious zealotry is a strange thing and reveals much about those adherents.

  • oh for the loofa Mike!

after reading this I falafel. Where does Fox find these psychos?

  • Trash the Show, not the Person.

"Red Eye" sounds like an easy enough target that it could be justifiably hatcheted without using the right wing's own moral judgements to slander the host. Were she an articulate and fair champion of progressive politics, I don't think I would see the same article. She and the show sound moronic and perhaps reckless, but nonetheless this article is an example of Salon's occasionally going below the belt.

    It's not necessary.

  • What's with the Al Gore Attacks?

This is great- now we have another one of these peculiar women going after Al Gore, this time with fat/fart jokes. (From Ms. Coulter, "Al Gore- fag, total fag." Really elementary school playground stuff. I ask the rhetorical question. Why pick on a dedicated statesman, long-time public servant, a patriot who has educated himself and has used his position to bring attention to a vast and critical environmental crisis...oh, I get it.

If any of Ms. Marsden's and Ms. Coulters supporters forward his to their attention, I challenge them to debate Mr. Gore on the issues.

  • Defense of Daymen

This is nothing like Limbaugh; this is factual information that specifically undercuts her credibility.

No, the fact that the woman is a contributer to Fox News undercuts her credibility.

I call that good journalism, and for the record it's the first time Traister has written good journalism.

Go find "piss off, wankers" post and read it. It was starred by the editors, so it shouldn't be difficult to find. To put this in perspective for you, I watch Fox News regularly (I'm a masochist like that), and I had no idea who this woman was prior to Traister's hit piece/free publicity.

Left-leaning, journalists and news-sources are their own worst enemies. Coulter really set the standard for the sport of liberal baiting, and progressives always rise to to the challenge, fuming and gnashing their teeth, which is an endless source of entertainment for those on the right.

I find Coulter deplorable. I stopped reading her syndicated column (which still runs in my local paper) years ago when I deduced with little effort that she has zero journalistic integrity. Marsden is inconsequential outside the cloistered confines of the grossly overestimated Fox News echo-chamber. This piece isn't "good journalism," it's pure media masturbation.

    Don't feed the trolls.

  • Re: SFU and Marsden are both news to me

For a self-described "Canadian news-junky who works in academia" to have never heard of Rachel Marsden before is laughable enough, but for the same person to confuse SFU with the right-wing Fraser Institute, which is a completely separate institution, makes me think this commenter HAS BEEN "living in a tunnel." Fraser is a pretty common name "out here" on the west coast.

  • She should marry

Rachel Marsden should marry Matt Sanchez.

  • Wetting Their Appetites

All in all, given her salacious past, I'd say Ms. Marsden is a perfect Fox Commentator. This is Murdoch's speciality. (Ever see the NEW YORK POST?) The geeks who watch it will be pleased, and as the story spreads, I'll bet viewership will increase--at least until they get bored with her--and by then there will be another scandal to wet their appetites.

  • Re: Conserva-babe

"I guarantee you that a battery of personality profile tests would reveal this person to be a psychopath."

One of my first thoughts, as well. And perfect qualifications for touting the neoconservative line. Mental health issues, a criminal record - she will be fast-tracked for a green card for sure.

  • BPD

To whoever suggested it sounds like this woman (who I also had never heard of, nor wish to again) has BPD. Having someone in my family with this disorder, that was the first thing I thought, too, especially given the possibility of sexual abuse. I normally consider it foolish to label & diagnose people from tales of their behavior, but hers has all the symptoms, including the injured lives of those she has targeted.

I don't see her as another Ann Coulter - I see Ann Coulter as a extra-deranged sociopath. (and I feel free to classify her, too!)

This is not coming from my noblest impulses, but I hope she turns her fiendish eye upon any of the Fox execs or anchors. Have a good time with that, honey.

  • Just when you think nothing can surprise you...

I remember reading countless articles about Rachel Marsden when she was involved in endless scandals here in Canada. My wife and I (whoever had that section of the paper first) would read them aloud to each other and laugh. Her pathetic tendency to repeat the same behaviour pattern over and over again provided much comic relief in our house, and I wondered periodically over the years whatever happened to her. I knew that there was someone with the same name working as a right wing journalist, both here and in the US, but I knew it had to be a coincidence. No one could ever be crazy enough to actually hire her as a journalist. A wordsmith maybe, but a journalist?

Just when you think nothing can surprise you anymore...
