  • What the...

What is this article doing at Salon? I don't need to know any of the details of this woman's personal or legal life. This sort of innuendo journalism belongs on the Rush Limbaugh show, not Salon.com.

  • daymen: if you don't need to know details...

...why on earth do you read anything?

This is nothing like Limbaugh; this is factual information that specifically

    undercuts her credibility.

I call that good journalism, and for the record it's the first time Traister

    has written good journalism.

  • Her behavior is disgusting.

How does she get a free pass on criminal harrassment? She pled guilty. And it wasn't an isolated incident. She's a habitual stalker/harrasser. I don't care if she'd male or female, conservative or liberal. This kind of behavior is beyond the pale - morally reprehensible.

She's not a Fox employee, but rather just a contributor? Ha! Go figure. Maybe it's because she's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Don't hold your breath waiting for this piece of work to be a payroll employee. Fox is dumb, but it's not stupid.

Is her commentary conflicted with respect to Duke? Well, okay, yeah that's an obvious one. But I would posit that any expression of moral outrage, any moral judgement she casts, is fraught with conflict. She's a criminal, for chistsakes!

Boyd's correct that America loves redemption, but he's wrong with respect to Marsden. Perhaps I give Fox viewers too much credit, but I would hazard a guess that if her past were widely publicized here in the states, her credibility would be shot and her popularity would wain. And that's why Marsden wouldn't submit to an interview - this piece threatens to do exactly that.

Please let this piece have legs. No pun intended.

  • Just ignore her

Seriously. I'm Canadian, I know all about Marsden. This article doesn't even convey what a waste of time and brain space she is. Ignore she exists, most of us are trying to.

  • She chose a public life. end of story.

When i started reading the article, I also had mixed feelings. It did seem like a personal hitpiece, the politics of personal desctruction. I am now taking Evidence in law school, and I kept sifting and resifting what Traister presented to see if it would be admissable in a court of law.

But then I thought, this isn't a court of law, this Fox effing News, where anything goes, and now lows are reached every day. Marsden has voluntarily stepped into this snake's pit, and she would not hesitate to use someone's past against them, so why should we?

Here are 2 things that should give people hope

    - Even my rightwing friends have stopped taking O'Reilly seriously. These are people who are so rightwing, they want to invade Iran yesterday. They think the whole MSM is after the right. And even these assclowns have stopped watching much of Fox News. Maybe Fox will just go away as it gets ridiculouser and ridiculouser.

    - Why did Marsden try to stay consistent on the Duke rape case? She may not be Coulter material after all, if she actually wants to be consistent on air. Consistency never helped any rightwing pundit to the top. Maybe she'll fade away for not being ridiculous enough, for not having enough contempt for the truth.

  • Play misty for me

Look at the linked photos. She's got insane, dead eyes. Watch the movie, "Play Misty for Me" and you'll see the same dead stalker eyes on Clint's stalker. It's inevitable that someday she's going to try and give someone the chop. Hopefully, by then she'll be stalking Bill O'Reilly. Yeah, that's a good idea. Someone needs to introduce the unholy pair.

  • "Don't you wish your pundit was a FREAK like me?"

    She's a very kinky girl

The kind you don't take home to mother

She will never let your spirits down

Once you get her ON THE AIR now!

She likes the boys FOX 'news'

She says O'Rielly is her favorite

When he gets her with his loofah now

She's never hard to please, yeah

She's all right, she's all right

That girl's all right with me, yeah

She's a super freak, super freak

    She's super-freaky, ya'll

    (With Apologies to Rick James)

  • Rupert has the jones for large jawed women

I think she looks like Pat Tillman.

  • Do Conservatives Respect and Admire This Kind of Behavior?

I am amazed that people who hold themselves up as moral yardsticks in our society will promote and pretend to admire a person of Marsden's caliber. This woman is a disgrace to women and journalism.

  • She's ARRIVED!

I just fired this article off to my husband. Like many Canadians (I'm sure), I was beginning to wonder what had become of our wee Rachel (almost as much as I'm wondering just when women who look like handsome drag queens became "babes", but maybe I'm just too old-fashioned in that matter).

Rachel provided many a column inch for Canada's beloved _Frank_ magazine in the immediate aftermath of her adventures in BC, but I think we were all relieved when she dropped off the radar. My husband did once mention in passing that she had some gig with an American show of some sort, but I paid it no mind. And as I guess, from this article, that what you guys call a "conservative" paper is what we call a "rag", the Toronto Sun gig really didn't register with me as, you know, a journalism job. But here she is, on Fox. The big-time. I'm sure I speak for every one of my fellow Canadians when I say I am inexpressibly proud. No, literally; I really can't express it.

Consider her our gift to you. Seriously--keep her, gratis. It's the least we can do for not having hopped into Iraq with you. If you like, we'll even throw in a set of very sharp knives for her to share with her co-hosts.

  • When there's a drought you drink from a mudhole

For the last few years she has been posting ultra-conservative commentary on Frank and several other online discussion boards. Most who see the name know immediately that they are dealing with someone who has, in the past acted in ways that are unhinged and criminal. She has been the butt of ongoing jokes and I don't know if anyone anywhere imagined her making pundit status on Fox News.

Here in Canada Marsden is an embarrassment. She is also unhinged and scary. Fox must be desperate. It just confirms how much these psycho-nerd freakshows apppeal to Fox viewers.

If you want the hollywood version, rent the movie Swim Coach, which was based on her story.
