Hi Anonymous...
I didn't know Tom Wolfe was a right-winger, though I knew he was a moralist. I'll have to read more of his essays. I used to think Charles Krauthammer was a thoughtful right-winger but he seems to be getting weirder and weirder...

Big Whoop
So... let's see... she made a disputed charge of rape and then freaked out when her partner cheated on her? So what?

Her Rachelness
Hello,
I think this woman is a victim of sexual molestation as a child and has morphed into a malignant narcissist. Fox beware!
-
Clinton would love her
Bill Clinton would feel Rachel Marsden's pain. They are two of a kind, people who lie about their sexual lives, and who don't care if they hurt their bedmates feelings. Marsden's that crazy chick every guy dreads, but would like to shag at least once, be he a progressive or a conservative.
-
Coulter, Marsden, What hypocrites!
I still cannot wrap my mind around the fact that these ultra-right liberal-bashers have the nerve to wear long straight hair parted down the middle, the classic look of the 60's hippie chick, liberal, counterculture, folkie, whatever. And short skirts, to boot! That was MY look! You can't have it!
In keeping with the proper conservative image, they need to cut their hair, wear bubbles, get married, have kids, stay home and raise them, and wear long skirts and hideous makeup. No rock concerts allowed! No faded jeans!
You can't have it both ways, girls!
-
Anonymous thoughtful reflective right-winger
I haven't read the Wolfe you reference, but if these topics are of interest to you (genetic determinism, yadda yadda), highly recommend you check out Steven Pinker's "The Blank Slate", as it addresses that very thing at some length.
And I think fairly leftily, but of course that's for you to decide. Nonetheless based on what you wrote I think you might find it a good read.

Hello!
Hello! Borderline Personality Disorder, anyone? Classic case.

"Nine Miles of Bad Road"
3 people had job changes because of Rachael Marsden:
* LIAM DONELLEY, SFU swim coach. Fired and rehired.
* PATRICIA O'HAGAN, SFU harrassment policy coordinator resigned.
* JOHN STUBBS , SFU President . He now teaches history at SFU.
4 people accused Marsden of harrassment:
* LIAM DONELLEY, SFU swim coach.
* PATRICIA O'HAGAN, SFU harrassment policy coordinator.
* NEIL BOYD, SFU criminologist professor
* MICHAEL MORGAN, Vancouver radio host (she plead guilty in 2004)
____________
OTHER CHAOS (short list)
Simon Fraser University paid $12,000 to Marsden and $35,000 to Liam Donnelly.
- Marsden rigged Morgan's computer so that she received a blind copy of all his emails. What manipulation!
- Marsden showed up at O'Hagan's public appearance AFTER O'Hagan had publicly claimed Marsden harrassed her. Marsden does not shrink from public embarrassment. It feeds her boldness.
- Marsden showed up at Boyd's classes AFTER he had criticized the SFU handling of her case with Liam Donnelly. Then she harrassed him. What boldness!
___________
OPINION
Marsden is a barracuda.
A trail of chaos follows her wake.
She's dangerous.
She claims that other people are harrassers, when it is SHE who is the harrasser.
Blames others. Pretends to be the victim when she is the predator.
"Nine miles of bad road' comes with the territory of sociopaths.
Next Chapter of Rachael Marsden?
FOX, How is your harrassment policy coordinator?
Did you have Marsden sign a 'pre-nup' document to forgo lawsuits against Fox and against it's employees or past employees?
NOTE TO FOX PEOPLE e.g. Rob Granatstein or senior producer Shelly Stevenson: take a page from Neil Boyd the criminologist professor at SFU:
Save your emails and voice messages.Chaos may be coming to a place very near you. I disklike using the E word...... but...she's ev*l.
________
Thanks to the reader who pointed Marsden out on the YOU TUBE link , wearing dress, sitting at the end, thighs exposed.
__________
It's been interesting to hear the voices of many Canadian readers of Salon.

How embarrassing
I'm embarrassed for my city, my country, my gender, my profession and, at this moment, for my opposable thumb.
You only have to mention Marsden up here and everyone nods with a slow, "Oh, ye-eah. Her." And then they make that circle-finger-crazy-motion as they let out a thin, rueful whistle.
As others have suggested, I'm wildly curious about whom she'll 'Glenn Close' next. The Fox gallery is ripe with soft targets. In fact, I hope they post her to their Washington bureau.
And to Rebecca Traister - great piece! The TV stuff is fun, but this was really well done.
-
Micki--
I'm also outraged at the 60's look these women cultivate. It's my look too! They should have all the accoutrements you mentioned--plus double-knit polyester pantsuits if they get tired of the long skirts. Thanks for the tip, Matty!

Rachel Marsdens future.
I keep thinking of Tony Snow who was a darling of the conservative crowd
before becoming GW Bushs mouthpiece.
I also keep thinking of a few predatory females I've known who use their
sex to ruin peoples lives.
The right wing nuts are really scraping the bottom of the barrel, aren't
they.

So Many to Choose From..
If American news outlets are looking for intelligent, articulate, women with a great understanding of politics, then they are right to look in Canada. Unfortunately, by picking someone with so much negative history, they leave themselves open to problems in the future. It is not just the credibility factor. What legitimate journalist wouldn't be offended by her hire? But Fox chances her craziness effecting their own organization and the individuals in it. How long until one of their own staff, male or female, is lodging a complaint agaist her? And, incidently, the Toronto Sun is not widely respected. It is tabloid journalism at best.
-
Stalking Stephen
The woman belongs in a psychiatric ward, but barring that, let's at least get some entertainment value out of this. I hope she tries to stalk Stephen Colbert and sends him.... wait for it... wait for it... teddy bears!

Green with envy are we, Rebecca?
Do you believe everything you read in the newspapers about the Rachel Marsden case? Shame on you, you typical jellyfish-like, lobotomized liberal. I'm sure FOX is grateful for the free publicity you've been sending their way. THANK-YOU for writing this article and helping to skyrocket Rachel into superstardom. The FOX news execs are laughing and clanking their Cristal filled glasses all the way to the bank. Way to go!
