confused?
Stop trying to confuse the issue. The subject is Israel, not some Scandinavian country, etc, etc., It's what Israel has done and continues to do to the indigenous people of Palestine and its neighbors and how its supporters in the US (namely AIPAC) enable it to do so. What Israel is doing is not in the best interest of the US. Americans are paying for this in many ways besides with our tax dollars... our standing internationally, our soldiers dying in Iraq - they are all directly related to our blind support of Israel. No matter how you and your buddies try to twist it, it comes down to a US's mindless support of a racist state. The only way to peace is for to Israel to become a secular democracy that gives equal rights to all its citizens.

No Confusion Here
There is no such entity as "the indigenous people of Palestine" because there has never been an autonomous nation called Palestine. Never. That region was a British-ruled territory before Israel existed, and where was the humanitarian outcry then?
There is no "blind support" of Israel on my end of things. I simply see that Israel provides rights to its citizens, male and female, Jew and non-Jew, that other countries in the region do not provide to their minority groups. That is a very admirable concept, perhaps the highest among the human race, and well worth supporting, by blood or by money.
If you see it as more convenient to allow another militant Islamic theocracy to supplant the democratic ideals represented in the state of Israel, simply because teen-age suicide bombers are a ghastly phenomenon that you think will go away once Israel does, that's your problem.

I see that the bottom line for you is that Palestinians do not exist(remember that infamous proclamation by Golda Meir?) I suppose it makes it easier when you hold racist notions, to subjugate Palestinians, to take their homes, their culture, their livelihoods if they don't really exist. That way, the crumbs you allow will be better than nothing, yeah?

nice to know the world goes on even as i sleep. dayenu, i am not mad at you - i just allowed myself the luxury of snapping at you for the moment. you are an ally. i was mad at alex for the effrontery of challenging me to convince him to remain jewish. i really don't want him in the tribe. but it's not my say so. you just have to ignore jp. read down to his initials and forget him. israel will remain a pariah state as long as there are pariah jews. i just found our that tom stoppard was jewish and so was christopher hitchens' mother. what was interesting is they didn't even find out until late middle age! England is seen as tolerant, if it actually *was*, such "information" would have not been hidden by loving mothers. that sort of explains some jewish sentiment here as well. jews, like others, don't like being hated so some will mutter and look down to the floor. hate themselves in the morning, but attack israel too. the present iraq war will help the arabs to realize the U.S. is NOT all-powerful (something it would have retained had it stayed in iraq just a few months - but then it would have had to have been "Operation: Smack Iraq" not "Operation: Iraqi Freedom".) so they won't keep on at the U.S. to solve all their problems by "pressuring" israel. they will have to do it themselves. negotiate with the devil. that's all to the good. both the palestinians and its supporters will have to realize, like the song, "the rockies may tumble gibraltar may crumble, they are all made of clay but israel is here to stay". once the opposing mind set is overthrown progress can be made. i really foresee a better relationship between jews and arabs than *ever* will be between jews and christians (and cultural christians, not just believers). finally i was interested so i looked up |iran jews| and its first link http://www.sephardicstudies.org/iran.html "It is one of the many paradoxes of the Islamic Republic of Iran thathis most virulent anti-Israeli country supports by far the largest Jewish population of any Muslim country. "it's really odd, sometimes the airplane will just sink, like a stone, but at other times, for no apparent reason, it will remain afloat for two, three minutes". there are more people in a manhattan city block then there are jews in iran - and they've been there since before Cyrus the Great (2500 years ago).

I never said Palestinians don't exist- I said that there never was a country called Palestine, and that is a fact.
That a group of Arabs chose to designate themselves as "The Palestinians" after World War II, and wage a very well-funded war on behalf of other, wealthier Arabs against Jewish settlers and refugees in that region is self-evident. Hitler's anti-Jewish ideology meshed very conveniently with certain Arab and Muslim groups, as demonstrated even today by Iran's holocaust-denial campaign, and the often-stated desire of militant Muslims in the region to "drive the Jews into the sea". That still doesn't change the reality that such a country as "Palestine" never existed in the first place.
Words mean something, jb. In the future, you'd do well to remember that before you try and debate such a complex subject as tribal conflicts in the middle-east, and refute the rights and existence of an entire nation such as Israel.

all of this strife, vitriol, and immature hate speech speaks volumes from whence it comes, but somoeone had to teach these people this stuff and they did it for a reason.
there is money to be made.
all you have to do is fill people's minds with garbage and tell them how smart and patriotic they are for thinking the way you want them to.
which is how half the writers here are thinking. they couldn't possibly come up with this nonsense on their own. this stuff has been spoon fed to them since they were kids.
really now, who is profiting from this foolishness? could it be the same people who have promoted all this crazy thinking?

leave the defense industry out of it. it's all about those jews and arabs - choose your side place your bets and cheer for your team. never mind how many are maimed and killed or how much it costs because war is the national sport.
