  • Burma

David, yes, agreed,Burma has a hideous regime..and some of the ethnic groups being cleansed are Baptists, and possibly this maybe the reason our administration has come to the aid of these groups. My point was that we are so distrusted that even when we are doing the right thing, we are not supported by people who would and should support the persecuted BECAUSE they don't trust our positions due to our corrupt support of the invasion of Iraq. Our bad foreign policy impedes our good foreign policy.

  • At the ANSWER rally today

Some radical Philippino group was championing suicide bombers in Iraq and the West Bank. All I can say is, I hope it comes to American soon. White People Suck. America Sucks, Israel Sucks, Jews Suck.

  • unswerving devotion

there are the cuban refugees that hold sway over usa policies and there are other such groups. so how is israel any different? but in reading various criticisms i do feel that there is more involved here than mere support of policy. the anger that is expressed at anyone who speaks up with other viewpoints is immediately branded as stupid or worse. criticism of israel fits in with categories of racism, sexism etc. it is to tar someone so that they will not speak. this is very bothersome to the rest of us who are not pro or anti israel and are used to see two sides to everything. is that not american? the so called support of isreal is becoming a pandering and to those of us who are not jews it seems not fair to have our representatives running to prove their loyalties without seeing who else may be involved. the more i see, the more i am turned off by the tactics. aipac and its money fits the stereotype of this group too much. will the thought police knock on my door soon?

  • We need a religious test for citizenship

    Jews need not apply.

  • apologies for doublepost

trying to correct "hideous"..thought first had not gone through...

  • To Anon..from another Anon

    I agree.

Any criticism of Israel (or even attempts to understand the Palestinian point of view) is conflated with all sorts of immorality or even murderers.

It's a COUNTRY for heaven's sake. ANOTHER country..that happens to get a heck of a lot of U.S. tax dollars and political attention.

We have a perfect right to question Israel.

  • Any criticism of bitches and niggers

Is immediately conflated to be a criticism of ALL bitches and niggers. How unfair. I'm a liberal goddamnit. I am allowed to be bigot.

  • it takes three legs

The whole Iraq mess is supported by these three pillors of self-interest.

First the obvious World Oil Monopoly has its tenticals all over the massive oil resevers under Irag. Trying to lock in Profits of 70% in the Bremerazation of the countries resources.

Second the Military Industrial Complex is building an 140 acre permanent base in Iraq while hiding behind the men and women who are dying there. They are now semi-private mercenary contractors , interested in finacial victory not the job of defending America.

Third, the most invisible leg is the Pro Isreal lobby in the US and Israel which abore shedding the blood of Jewish troops when they can shed the blood of American sons and daughters in both Iraq and now Iran. Israel was sure that when they last invaded Lebenon, that Iran was going to jump into the fray. But having their asses kicked by Hamas and Hezbola quickly changed that plan. This is why Joe Lieberman wants the US to continue funding the war with lives and money. He is Jewish first and American second or at best third. These are the Jews that live in the same mentality as Cheney and Rove. Terrorism and torture is their game. The guest list at aipac tells the whole story!

  • Editor! are you going to star shaunnarine's retraction too?

as i said in an earlier post, shaun, i always assume sincerity, if disproved i come down hard. now i have to decide what to do with apology. in ordinary life, i am very forgiving, i might as well continue it electronically. so shaun, i officially de-LIAR you and accept it was unintentional. done with. of course, you'll have to accept that future urls will be scrutinized, that's inevitable.

dayenu: nice to see another jew on the panel. i had a nice long nap while my son did his work, but no bad dreams this time. before, i was emotional, trying to explain why jews feel the way we do. no more. i've given that up. better that way. i have hope that the arabs, who are after all brothers (more jews were killed during intifada times by argentinian *catholics* (the "dirty war") than by moslem arabs.) will find a way to live as neighbors (ONCE they realize, in their heart of hearts the lines of the stevie wonder song applies strongest to israelis, "For once, I can say, this is mine, you can't take it". we cannot be displaced.)

just because i unmasked you, "Freedom Rider" you don't have cause to write *worse* under "Rifght Wing Salonikon" and "Crackheads for Castro" (people don't seem to realize that *style* fingerprints). "Anonymous", you failed your retest! (israel spelled with "ae") as for that oft oft repeated objection, i refer you to my "zionism is a liberation movement" post. MB. your first two points are real, the last is a phantasm in your mind, but such phantasms can have political reality - perhaps you can convince your fellow americans, in which case i hope my genetically tuned ear will know when to get out while the getting's good (it's really SAD to even CONTEMPLATE this possibility, america being so wonderful in so many ways, freedom to start businesses, freedom of speech and in general an enlightenment cast of mind)

  • the reality of israel

after WWII, boundaries were redrawn and populations exchanged. jews from europe left their houses and moved to israel. jews from iraq, yemen, egypt, morocco, by a combination of force and fear emigrated, as with a roughly similar number of palestinians. neighbors have to recognize the sensibilities of the other. with any other people, Al Aksa would have been demolished for a new Third Temple. it wasn't and isn't. it will be left forever for the moslems to cherish. if the arabs can learn to respect the sensibilities of the jews, and not even *hope* to keep their "younger brother" under their thumb(that is done with, forever). both can prosper. otherwise it is a continuing war. which will only get worse. as the Spartans admonished, "do not fight too often with the same foe, they will learn". the jews learned, and now the arabs, too. the hezbollah was a much more formidable foe than the palesinians ever were. but the palesinians, too, can learn. we are, after all, one species. this *can* escalate into a nihilistic nucleocide. you'd better take your crazies in tow, ishmael! for some jihadists, death for everyone is preferable to life under some assumed humiliation. i think, israel, it is time to shuck the master. make your own foreign policy, do not follow the short term politics of the U.S. you are no one's dog! to bite whom they pick. start discrete negotiations with saudi and jordan and egypt. they are afraid of shiite iran. they, with europe, who does the oil's bidding, are the sole source of the palestinian's food. palestine lives off beggary - sometimes extortion, but always beggary. they will dance to the patron's tune. that's how peace will come about, if it ever does. that's the only way. the current civil war only helps the U.S. and israel. divide et impera. think about it, ishmael.
