Hillary the prudent

Democrats burning for the inspirational uplift of Barack Obama or the left-leaning edge of John Edwards may not be ready for an authentic moderate.

The letters thread is now closed.

John Edwards is the only democrat who can win in a general election

Perhaps Hillary Clinton is so far ahead that she will become the inevitable democratic candidate. If this is the case then she is likely to lose the general election against a mainstream Republican candidate like McCain or Giuliani. This is also true of Barrack Obama.

Among the Democrats only John Edwards has the appeal to win in the general election.

I am betting and hoping that John Edwards will emerge as the Democratic candidate.

time to grow up

Maybe we Americans will finally grow up and look beyond gender to elect the best man for the job - Hillary Clinton. After 8 years of stupidity, we need an intelligent, thoughtful and pragmatic person in the whitehouse.

What Bull!

Beware of Mrs. Clinton. Don't forget about her underhanded acts while the first Lady. Remember about her accusing civil service workers in the Travel Office of wrong doing so she could put her Ho.lywood cronies in there. These civil service workers had to go into bankruptsy to pay for the lawyers they had to hire to combat her false chargers. Not quite the person for the common man. Don't forget about how she swooped into Vince Foster's office to get his papers before the police were allowed in. What was she hiding????

Don't forget about her flag burning ammendment as senator and her photo opps with Santorum and Gingrich. There is so much more to disrespect about her. I will end by saying that all she is ruthless and is only interested in the acquisition of power. She will do ANYTHING to get into the White House.

Barak, beware of The Dragon Lady......

Dynastic Politics

What I find maddening about Senator Clinton is that she has so much potential as a candidate. No one questions her intelligence and savvy. And, yes, I understand she faces additional challenges in winning over voters as the first woman (and former first lady) with a realistic chance to win the presidency. However, even in this day and age, when it's clear to all but the most obstinate conservatives that the Bush Administration has severely screwed up on a whole host of issues, foreign and domestic, she still is fearful of upsetting people by saying the wrong thing or taking a certain stance. Hence her decisions to pander to the right on violent video games and flag-burning. Hence her fallacious attempt to claim that she was "misled" by President Bush into voting for the AUMF, when it's obvious that in so voting she made a conscious decision to DO THE POLITICALLY EXPEDIENT BUT MORALLY REPUGNANT THING and authorize war against Iraq. Anyone with half a brain knew Bush and co. were salivating to go to war at any cost. The man in the street knew it, I knew it, but a U.S. Senator of her smarts didn't know it? Bullshit.

Has anyone thought about the fact that if Clinton gains the White House, the U.S. will have been ruled since 1988 by either a Bush or a Clinton? Do we really want this sort of dynastic politics taking root in our country. I will never support Sen. Clinton's run for the presidency. All politicians pander to a degree. But, Sen. Clinton seems unable to take a stance without first testing how the winds are blowing on a given day. It's the sheer level of political calculation that goes into her every decision, her inability to say "fuck it, I'm taking this stance because it's right, and I don't care what people think" that turns me off.

Pro-Clinton and Anti-Obama ads on Salon

I have a bunch of ads on my Salon now. Maybe my Premium has expired; I'm not sure, but I won't be renewing. Anyway, Google apparently picks up words from the page and throws related links on the same page. The two advertised web sites I'm seeing in this letters section are Hillary for President at hillaryclinton.com and Barack Obama Exposed on humanevents.com.

Maybe Salon shouldn't allow such ads for one candidate and against a chief rival for the nomination if they want to maintain any semblance of objectivity.

Salon's Love Fest for Hillary Continues

Even after Joan's protestations, it's clear that Salon has a very definite pro-Hillary Clinton, anti-Barack Obama agenda, and this clinches it.

Just watch...

IF (and that's a mighty big if, even to this NY born, ultra liberal Democrat who along with others, dislikes Hillary Clinton and her pandering-AIPAC-butt-kissing-shrill-uninspiring style) she gets elected, my money's on Joan to take a political appointment.

Which job you bucking for, Joan? White House Press Secretary, or Director of Communications?

I wrote to Salon a while ago to indicate why I would not be renewing my paid subscription, and this just reinforces that I made the right decision.

Because, If I want to donate my money to Hillary Clinton's campaign, I'll send the check directly to the campaign, instead of having it go via Salon...

Hilary is a disaster

"Prudent" in this article is just a euphism for right-wing monster. Hilary is an unabashed imperialist and Zionist stooge. And it's not just "Democratic activists" who think her position on the Iraq War is wrong. A lot of Republicans are to the left of Hilary!

I'd never get caught dead voting for a Democrat (as a Naderite they took away my right to vote with their dirty tricks to keep him off the ballot in 2004), but if I had to I'd vote for Edwards. It may just be a front, but at least he TALKS like a progressive. Hilary talks like a nutty fascist and has the record to prove she means it.

authenticity

There is nothing authentic about being on the wrong side of the greatest moral and strategic mistake in US history, and then refusing to acknowledge it. There is nothing authentic about blaming her vote on Bush when anyone, who was not blinded by a false ideology mixed with political expediency, could see that the arguments for war were nonsense. Anyone who voted for that war is a participant in a crime against humanity and if there is any authenticity left in our political system, there should be political consequences. Like not becoming president.
