Why I had to quit the John Edwards campaign

During my brief tenure as blogmaster for a Democratic presidential contender, I experienced the right-wing smear machine firsthand

LeCAstor

How can someone who's not a lawyer get quick access to legal decisions such as the one you posted? Is there a web site?

And for a legal illiterate like me, how does one find a specific case if you don't know all the specific?

please!

Knowing how these people work, modeling the dirty tricks campaigns of the Nixon era ...

So publicizing someone's own words is "dirty tricks" a la Tricky Dick!?

You know nothing of history, nor of appropriate analogies. Try again, please.

Re: Lutheran-Moravian

I'm actually a socialist-leaning liberal. And a mixture of ELCA Lutheran and Moravian. Thanks for presuming to think you can figure me out, though. Your arrogance is a nice touch.

Based upon your subsequent postings, I am willing to believe this. I jumped to conclusions, and apologize.

Finding legal cases

Um, I'm a law student, so I have access to LexisNexis and Westlaw for free through my school. Anyone can use the pay-per-search feature on LexisNexis, lawyer or not. I don't know how expensive it is, though.

Otherwise, sometimes the decisions are posted on the internet on findlaw and otherwise. Most famous supreme court deicisions are available on the internet somewhere. Many state supreme courts post their decisions as well.

If you don't know the citation, on Lexis, you can choose "9th Circuit District Level Federal Cases" and search for the names, and then you find it.

I guess it's pretty opaque if you don't have Lexis or Westlaw.

Show Us You Have a Pair, Amanda

Bashing catholics is safe, and passe.

Blog some jokes about Mohammed, and post your address in the same blog.

After all, they won't behead you like those evil catholics will.

You pansy.

Oh yeah. right.

"One thing I vow here and now–you motherfuckers who want to ban birth control will never sleep. I will fuck without making children day in and out and you will know it and you won’t be able to stop it. Toss and turn, you mean, jealous motherfuckers. I’m not going to be “punished” with babies. Which makes all your efforts a failure. Some non-procreating women escaped. So give up now. You’ll never catch all of us. Give up now." - Marcotte

Hmm, could this be the cause of the references to oral sex (as it doesn't make children, something she apparently wants to avoid)? Nope, must be the mysogeny of the right and their hatred of women in power, much less feminist women in power.

"I’m not an idiot. I’m a twat. Get it straight. I’m a hot, moist, inviting twat. Warm, wet, inviting. But not to you or your friends. Even if I were single, these nubile thighs do not wrap around the hips of Republicans. You can fuck yourselves or the dry twats of the self-hating misogynists who will allow you tiny penis to penetrate them. Have fun! Um, the wounds you get from rubbing you un-lubricated dick repeatedly into your heartless, soulless woman–iodine is your best friend, my be-scarred friend." - Marcotte, quoted from Pandagon (response to a comment from above article)

Yup, Salon pegged it. She's just a poor little girl being victimized. She's never said anything evil about anyone, why would anyone pick on her.

Must be because she's a girl, and a feminist, as she's never posted anything inappropriate. How could anyone say mean things to her. You Republicans are just *sob* meanies.

Seriously, did anyone believe that? Anyone?

Oh, the above posts were from finding out Bush could appoint two SCOTUS Justices, and therefore all birth control would be banned once Chief Justice Roberts was sworn in.

At least she's as accurate as she is polite. I mean I fondly recall the days before Condoms, spermicide, and the Pill were outlawed.

Nope, she's balanced, accurate, fair and polite. Not a mean word to say to the fucking godbags. I can't see why anyone would dislike her.

So Many Screwed the Pooch In This Situation I Hardly Know Where To Start

Actually scratch that, I do know where to start. Here's who blew it, and when:

1. Edwards's campaign staff blew it by not thoroughly vetting the bloggers' work.

2. Both bloggers blew it by accepting the jobs without first taking into consideration what they had written over the years.

3. Once the controversy flared up, Edwards's campaign blew it by not refuting false (?) rumors that the bloggers had been terminated. They should have forcefully announced that this was not so, and that furthermore the two enjoyed the campaigns total support.

4. Both bloggers blew it by quitting in the face of a concerted attack. They took the selfish, thoughtless way out, just as they were selfish and thoughtless when they blithely accepted the jobs to begin with.

If Edwards can't manage a situation like this, he can't manage the country. For this voter, one candidate down several more to go.

pandagon is having server issues

Rob Anderson -- you mentioned that you got lots of missing pages and error messages earlier: this might have something to do with Pandagon's server change. Amanda has had to move Pandagon to a new server on account of all the traffic. A message on the main page says to try again on Saturday. Access will be intermittent while the change is in progress.

Friday, February 16, 2007 03:50 PM

Oh, sure. that'd have worked

They should have forcefully announced that this was not so, and that furthermore the two enjoyed the campaigns total support.

Right. that would have worked. You wouldn't have had every blowhard on televsion, every columnist, every parrotbrain on am radio, ad nauseum blasting Edwards for "supporting and promoting" anti-Catholic bigotry.

No, actually what the bloggers should have done is STFU or elected NOT to have worked for a candidate that has to get elected in a country where at least 87% of the population identifies itself as Christian.

Get the popcorn....

sit back and watch Amanada self destruct under the weight of her pride.

I tried to warn her off about the kind of self delusional thinking and outright lying she has written in this latest fairy tale, and she ignored me (and others).

I felt bad for her, but no longer. She deserves what she gets and by the looks of it, she will either be relegated to annonimity or she will be reviled....ala Hanoi Jane.

If I were her, I'd pray for the former. Ooops! That's right, there is no God according to her, so I guess she better hope the logical people who see her for the self agrandizing, self deluded fool that she is, will have a heart and just ignore her from now on.
