Mickey, Full Speed Ahead

Along with Mr Weinstein we all must do everything possible to get the very dangerous Repubs out of office. Left to their own devices these people will never quit or see the light. Their stranglehold grip on America and our military will destroy our beloved America by shredding our cherished U.S. Constitution.

Bush and the Rethuglikkkans have stacke the military and the federa courts ands the SCOTUS( mostly Repubs and now with four Catholics, the worst)and they will strangle our Constitution for the next 30-40 yrs.

I am an Independant voter and have been since approx 1968, due to the lying by Johnson, Westmoreland and Nixon.

Mr. Weinstein please take down the Republikkkan machine which is strangleing our democractic values and institutions. And don't look for much help from the federal courts or most especially Sgt. Alberto Gonzales once at the Air Force Academy and now the worst AG we have ever had along with Ashcroft both of who are right wing religious radicals, the first a Catholic and the second a member of the Assemblies of God and the CCC which is another Missouri group of white supremacists.

In order to save our american democracy the "Three Pillers", my phrase, of the Republican Party must be defeated. They are the american Corporatocracy(money) the Neocons(war mongers like Cheney,Rumsfeld,Bill Kristol, Charles Krauthammer and many Catholics like Alberto Gonzales etc, my religion but most certainly NOT me) and the Theocons/Theocrats which are the white southern confederate states evangelical fundamentalists of the Baptist and Catholic Churchs.

Pray that these nasty and corrupt groups are removed from political power. And PRAY FOR PEACE.

Mikey Weinstein honors our founding fathers.

I'm an Episcopal priest and am proud a collegue provided support for Mr. Weinstein in his battle against the Pharasees of today nesting in our armed services. The Rabbi I worship would condemn these exploiters of self- righteousness as quickly today as he did in his his own day. The fact is they are evil. That this question,"Am I behaving evilly?" would not even remotely occur to these practioners of pandering to theological, constitutional and pyschological ignorance in their fellow members of the armed forces and themselves is the first proof test that they are evil. The complete Jesus of scripture, if encountered by these supposed "disciples," would find him as great a scandal today as did the self- exalted of 2000 years ago. Jesus came to "set us free." These purported "evangelicals" find anyones freedom anathema. They are menaces to the hard won freedom we now enjoy in the USA and which was paid for in the sacrifice of life, health, treasure, family and even reputation of patriots in every generation. They must be required to answer for the violation of laws and regulations, as well as subverting the Constitution they swore to defend. They are sores on the body politic and are a greater threat to citizens than Ben Laden might ever hope to be.Some behavior is not tolerable or benign to a republic. These people require rooting out from whatever positions of responsibility they have managed to acquire. We owe Mr. Weinstein and other thoughtful patriots like him a large debt.

no problem

yeah, milburn, no problem. I hope that the muslims in the military also make a video about their faith for all to see, and start the "Islamic Embassy" and also work to convert people in the military to their faith...and also on the govt. dime.

and if this happened, you would hear the howling of the Falwells and Dobsons in this country all over the mainstream media, not to mention Glen Peckerhead...and I forgot who it was that said the muslim member of the leglislature should not be allowed to swear his oath of office on a koran... but I'm sure that person would feel such religious recruitment and swearing an allegiance to their religion before their nation would be no problem.

yeah, it's "whining."

Confused

I see no endorsement by the military of Christianity. What I see are a bunch of military personnel who have formed a group to talk about and support each other in their faith.

I'm confused as to why the author seeks to punish these American citizens so severely for exorcising their rights?

Evangelism a ghost problem

I served in the marines for several years and noticed people of all faiths just like I do in civilian life. I must say even though I am not a believer I have never had a problem with evangelicals or any other Christians doing what they do or attempting to convert me. If our military is currently populated with people who are cowed down by something like a tract toting promise keeper....what must they do when the bullets start flying.

If this group gets something out of their fellowship and wants to promote their group by filming themselves in uniform and inside their workplace talking about their faith SO WHAT! Thats freedom of religion and everyone is entitled to do it here. I don't have to shuck my uniform if I want to opine that religions are all basically fairy tales so I wouldn't expect anyone else to do the same just because there are a lot of them.

If the author thinks that people doing what these folks are doing is as dangerous as AL-Queda I have to wonder about that. When they start shooting at me during the hymns I might agree but until then it seems as though he is just foolishly trying to bolster the importance of a basically unimportant, unimaginative whine.

Sarcasm

My comment about "cocksuckers" was a joke, Robert. As a healthy and fully functioning breeder, yes, I know cocksucking does not refer to homosexuals...noting Teddy's hypocrisy or rather, in truth, tragedy was the reason for the mention, in response to the person who tried to say that fundie = straight and who was upset by Weinstein's language.

For those who are here for the first time and who are surprised at the level of vitriol toward fundies...well, this just shows what a bubble you live in.

Many of us want to scream when you try to insert your religious beliefs into science classrooms or National Parks. It is repulsive to hear of a pharmacist who denies a female a morning after pill, contrary to her doctor's prescription. If someone doesn't want to work for everyone in that pharmacy, then they should find work elsewhere. Who the fuck do you all think you are to decide the course of that woman's life? Or to increase her pain in suffering in the case of rape?

To take a look at yourself from someone else's perspective, you are, to many of us, like the Hare Krishnas or the Rev. Moon devotees who accost people as they try to go about their lives. You have supported a man for president that many of us think is the worst president in memory, who only really cares for the 1% richest of the rich...whether American or otherwise. You equate tax cuts for the rich with holiness. What happened to the beatitudes for you fundies? Why do you follow the examples of the gilded age, rather than the acts of the apostles? Why do you set yourselves up as only judges for the rest of society, in direct contradiction of the dictum to 'judge not?" Where did Jesus tell any of his followers to take up arms?

So, next time you wonder why you are "persecuted" for your beliefs, maybe you should consider that if you did not try to impose them upon others, you could go about your life as you will. But when you try to make your religious beliefs a cudgel to bludgeon others into submission, don't be surprised that others think you are a problem, not a solution.
