With her bold endorsement of Iraq critic Jack Murtha to be her second in command, the incoming House speaker is already putting her authority to the test.
  • CREW must not be ignored

I originally felt that John Murtha was a good pick for whip as his speaking out against the war was one of the major turning points in the people getting power in Washington again but, though Hoyer has taken positions toward the war that run counter to mine, I think ethics trumps all consideration when making a pick for House Majority Whip.

A major point in Pelosi's vision for how the Democrats will move forward in Washington was her pledge to conduct the most ethical congress ever and she picks John Murtha for Majority Whip?

CREW (Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington) is no right wing think tank. We can thank CREW for the ethical "outing" of Abromov, Cunningham and Delay, to name but a few. This group does the job the House Ethics Committee used to but in a non-partisan manner, CREW investigates and brings forth legal cases to indict criminals in Washington with great results, the cleansing of crooks from our government. I would suggest anyone thinking Murtha a good idea, from a political sense, go to the CREW web site and see what Murtha, as Democratic Whip, and the American people will be dealing with as the Republicans start bringing down the peoples majority for the same kind of issues they fell this November 7th, ethics.
