Typo?
Should this be "at Abramoff's request"?
-On one occasion, Mehlman even appears to have arranged for the firing of a particular federal employee at Mehlman's request.-

Mehlman
Not only is Mehlman a self-loathing gay man, but he is a criminal and a propagandist. He has nothing on Goebbels.

"...cautioned that any claims made in e-mails by members of Team Abramoff should be taken with a grain of salt... "Statements from known liars inflating their minimal contacts with Mehlman in an effort to magnify their own profile should not be a surprise," Schmitt warned."
This must be at the top of the administration's talking points memo. Mehlman isn't the first to use this excuse.

CORRUPTION
The dictionary definition of Corruption is, "impairment of integrity, virtue, or moral principle." Polical corruption happens when there is no system of checks and balances such as we have now with one-party rule. Democrats are no better than Republicans in this matter. When Democrats controlled the presidency and both houses of congress, similar episodes of corruption occurred (Dan Rostenkowski come to mind). We, the electorate get what we pay (vote) for in this regard. Generally, if we are single issue voters, we will tend to skew the government toward one-party rule. If on the other hand, we vote for people who believe in our democracy and the constitution on which it is based, we are more likely to have both parties represented and a real system of checks and balances. We voters are responsible for the creation of the Abramoffs and Mehlmans of the polical world and we can change the culture of corruptions in about three weeks. Even if your are a Republican, you must consider voting for a Democrat just to restore the balance of power and stem the tide of corruption.

Rostenkowski
Close but no kreplach. Abramoff and Mehlman were essentially agents of a foreign government. It will, as during Iran-Contra, go unnamed. Can you take a deep breath and step back far enough to gaze at the whole web of corruption in one glance? When does that AIPAC spying trial begin? No wonder Olmert is wild to spur the US into raping Iran -- we need a good distraction.

I Have Only One Worry About BushCo:
When they leave office on January 20, 2009 (or sooner if we catch Bush getting a blow job), will we be able to find a tent large enough to cover the White House for fumigation before the Democrats move in?
These people make Nixon and his CREEPy coterie look like choirboys.

Look At It This Way
He the GOP House is going to actually report something, think how much of a scandle this will be with the Democrats in charge. Subponea powers! And this my not even be the biggest thing they will investigate. Corruption in Iraq contracts, pre-war lies, torture, Cheney's energy plan and probably way too many things for the House to handle. No wonder Bush has no plans for a Democratic take over of House. Their will be no tomorrow if they do! Bush is finished!
