There are no winners, no good guys on any side.
All sides waging war are monsters. None deserve our praise, our consideration, our foreign aid. It is not anti-Semitic to call bullshit on Israel's murderous, indiscriminate waging of war. Nor is it anti-Islamic to call those Arab terrorists what they are. And shame on our American politicians who are complicit insofar as they choose to allow this to continue, offering at best half-hearted "suggestions" to perhaps consider a cease-fire.
If you support any of this, fuck you.

Blame Hezbollah
As an Australian Jew, I watch with horror as the civilian casualties mount in Lebanon and Israel. But recognize that the blame for these tragic deaths lies 100% with the terrorist organization, Hezbollah.
It is absolutely in Hezbollah’s interest for there to be many, many civilian deaths on both sides. Their sick 'logic' goes something like this:
1. If I kill you, I win.
2. If you kill me, I am a martyr. I win big.
3. There are no innocents in the land of my enemy. If I kill infants, the elderly, pregnant women, even on purpose, I win.
4. When my enemy kills innocent civilians in error, even his own allies condemn him for brutality. I win.
I think the reality is best represented by the current Internet cartoon of a Hezbollah terrorist and an Israeli soldier pointing rifles at each other. The Israeli soldier is standing in front of a baby carriage, protecting the baby. The Hezbollah terrorist is standing behind the baby carriage, using the baby as his shield. Even the UN's Humanitarian head, Jan Englander (no friend of Israel) told Hezbollah last week that it "should be ashamed of itself for creating the conditions that lead to so many deaths of women and childrena dn so few of male fighters".
I am amazed that the Lebanese people and the world are not outraged by Hezbollah’s actions, and by the Lebanese government’s failure to save them from the destruction which Hezbollah has so cynically and deliberately arranged to rain down on their heads.

the horror of flawed strategy
Has no one ever heard the homily "the cure is worse than the disease"? Or "cut off your nose to spite your face"?
This whole movement of thought -- that in order to eradicate a harbored dysfunction everyone there should be annihilated -- it's just disgusting.
Afghanistan, or Iraq, or Lebanon...it doesn't matter which: it's all the same philosophy that the civilians are meaningless so long as we manage to knock off a few of the criminals.
While we're at it, let's just blow up the crime-ridden areas of US cities, because you know we might catch some criminals. Certainly those criminals' families and loved ones are harboring them.
What is with people? How many studies need to exist that show stability brings more stability, and senseless violence breeds more senseless violence?
I'm just appalled. This poor father; everyone.

Australian Jew
If the best defense for your side is a fucking CARTOON, then say goodbye to the state of Israel. You'll have to do much better than a fucking CARTOON if you want to convince anyone other than stupid warmongers on either side that this senseless bloodletting is worth it.

I wonder
Would anyone in the west today, with cameras everywhere, be able
to stomack hundreds of thousands
of civilians killed in Germany and Japan that brought about the defeat of the Axis powers in the WW2.
People in Germany have been brainwashed to the point of fanaticism, they would die for the Fuhrer, just like Hezbollah would die for Nasrallah and Allah.
You would probably rather be living in the world where Hitler is having his way rather than doing what is necessary.
If you want to see what is really driving Islamic extremists look
at some of the Muslim media clips

or for all the Jews out there, who believe world today is a better place: http://memri.org/antisemitism.html

Moving on from cartoons
The best defense for "our side" is my personal image of my cousins, including my 90-year-old aunt and uncle in Tiberias (you wouldn't know where that was, of course) sitting fucking terrified in their bomb shelters for the past month. And myself, during the First Intifada, sitting fucking terrified in my car with my baby in the backseat and buses on either side at traffic lights waiting for them to fucking explode.
You fucking idiots who side with those who would eradicate you yourselves...Israel is just their warm-up game, you morons. First the caliphate in the Middle East, then Europe, then you, you fool.
Are you gay? Try being gay in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Fancy a stoning, anyone? Or a public beheading? Are you a feminist? Try being a feminist in the Islamic Republic which Hezbollah wants to replace Israel with? Ever read "Lipstick Jihad"? Fancy a gang rape, life behind the walls of your husband's compound, life behind the veil? Not too much access to the Letters column of Salon from there.
You remind me of those naives in the movie "Independence Day" standing on the building waving their "Peace, Love" signs at the alien spaceship...welcoming them with open arms, until the moment the aliens do what they always intended to do and nuke them in a second flat. Like theirs, your mind is so open that your brains have fallen out.
Wake up, you fucking idiot. That's what Israel has done and it ain't going back to sleep. Wake up, world, unless you prefer being laughed at and used as letter writing dupes and liars by those who wish your deaths. Wake up, you fucking fools.

Fools and Idiots Unite!
So anyone who questions the killing of innocent people in Lebanon is now a F'ing fool, idiot, blah, blah, blah.
Ozzy makes Hizbullah look pretty damn good, with that charming argument. Gee, I'm really reconsidering my liberal, humanist point of view, now that I see that the only truth is his truth.
How can such hate ever be an acceptable point of view? How can such extremism be an acceptable alternative to another extremism? Who wants to live in either world being proposed? Total domination. Total war. Total tyranny.
The alternatives represented by Israeli and Hizbullah extremists are not the only alternatives. Those who stand for peace, stand for the that idea, first. Isolating and condemning extremists of both stripes must be the next step. Finding those other alternatives and putting them effectively into practice is, at last, the only way to ensure a future worth inhabiting.
This is a messy business, full of difficulties and subtleties that mere vitriol and hate cannot comprehend, much less resolve.
