But a day after criticizing Israel for “disproportionate” strikes against civilians, U.N. humanitarian chief Jan Egeland accused Hezbollah of “cowardly blending” among Lebanese civilians.

“Consistently, from the Hezbollah heartland, my message was that Hezbollah must stop this cowardly blending ... among women and children,” Egeland said. “I heard they were proud because they lost very few fighters and that it was the civilians bearing the brunt of this. I don’t think anyone should be proud of having many more children and women dead than armed men.”

This coming from a UN Official. Let's see, the UN has people on the graound and even suffered an accidental bombing of a UN Post. Meanwhile Prothero was lead on a guided tour by Hezbollah...Which is likely more accurate?

The brave Arm Chair Generals in cyberspace seem to know more than on the ground reporters like Mitch Prothero who report what they see. Hezboallah was formed as a response to Israel's foolish and wasteful invasion of Lebanon in 1982 and ended up taking an estimated 20,000 innocent Lebanese lives. There was no Hezboallah and it's birth is due to Israel's war and occupation of Lebanon. Don't buy the line that it is Iraninan run- it is largely run by Shiites that have lost their families, friends, and property due to Israel's butchery. Unfortunately reporters are stuck in 1983 where PLO did hide behind innocent civilians and used them as shields. The PLO did not care about the shiite families that sustained the brunt of Israel's offense. But Hezboallah learned alot from nearly two decades of war and that is not to reveal your positions to civilians who can tip off Israel. THAT IS WHY ISRAEL IS SHOOTING FROM THE HIP-IT LACKS ANY ON THE GROUND INTELLIGENCE REGARDING ACTUAL TARGETS. dah!

what you say is true - but then you add this bit about "innocent." WHo in the middle east is innocent? Is it the Jewish son of settlers kidnapped and murdered when he was 18 and out on a hike? Is it the Palestinian family who knows about a tunnel used for smuggling arms? was it the Lebanese government, pre-1982, who allowed the PLO to set up shop and launch raids from Lebanon's borders? Who is innocent in that mess? The Jews are "butchers" but the PLO? rightful resistence - even if they have to destroy a country (Lebanon) to do it (100,000 Lebanese dead thanks to the PLO): why do you think the Jordanians slughterd 20,000 Palestinians (arabs killing Arabs? Can't be - where's Rachel Corrie when you need her?) - they saw what could be their own Lebanon and took matters in hand - sent Arafat to Lebanon. It's amazing how quick most are to condemn the Jews - butchers, nazis, monsters, ethnic cleansers, kikes, yids, jew boys - it's all the same - because no matter how many Jews the Arabs kill, one "resistence" fighter's death is far too many!

One hears that there is no moral equivalence between the “accidental” killing of civilians by the Israeli forces, and the intentional killing of civilians by Hezbollah. This is true. Israeli kills a staggeringly larger number! According to a 7/30/06 BBC news online article (news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/5229058.stm) 750 Lebonese (mostly civilians) have been killed, while 51 Israelis (mostly non-civilians) have been killed. So, the ratio of Lebonese killed to Israelis killed is 17:1! Perhaps the United States should arm Hezbollah as well as they have armed Israel, so Hezbollah could stop using “terrorist” tactics and kill more “humanely” like the Israeli army.--Ted Schoneberger

Haven't you noticed? The Liberal progressive anti Israel left has the same tolerance for Jews as the Palestinians; that is, zero. If they outnumber the pro Israeli positions 100:1 they scream that the 1 is an occupying invasion and clearly a dark plot by mysterious forces. This is the most rediculous claim I have ever heard that Hezbollah stays away from the general population. Show us your proof that Hezbollah is not in the area of civilians, but of course you can't because even the UN says that Hezbollah not only lives with the general population but that Hezbollah regularly shoots off its missiles from right next to the UN observation towers and were in fact reported to be next to the tower that Israel bombed by one of the observers inside! This has ALWAYS been the way these cowardly terrorists operate, they don't fight soldiers, they attack innocent people and have for many years. Where are the leaflets dropped on the Israeli towns before rockets are launched at them?? There is film proving that Israel does this and sents out other forms of comunication to warn civilians that an attack is coming, the terrorists DO NOT do this.
