    Have to disagree on this. 'Faith' is a pretty all-encompassing word with many implications, and to slag the whole broad spectrum as mental illness and delusion is reductive and unfair. Can faith be delusory? Yes. Can faith be a powerful, life-changing force? Yes.

    As for my earlier claim that Christians don't follow the laws of the Old Testament being "utter bullshit"; cmon guy, use your common sense. The Old Testament is quoted by many people, and you could probably find something in it somewhere to justify anything. When sombody quotes the Old Testament, the overwhelming odds are that they're quoting somthing for its beautiful and simple expression, not because they believe EVERYTHING in the Old Testament is to be followed in 2006.

  • No Brain Given

    There are fervent evangelical "christians" in this country, including ones with massively disproportionate influence in the Bushit Really White House, who believe every jot and tittle in the Old Testament. All of it, with unquestioning mania. Some of them are on tee vee. Switch from MTV and Nickelodeon and check out PTL or some of the formerly fringe dwellers that now pull levers in Widdle Georgie's emply skull.

    Things like this make me proud to be an atheist. Of course there is no war on christians, merely a reluctance to allow them to force feed everyone whatever brand of evangeical swill they happen to be dishing out. They remain free to gorge themselves until they burst. Unfortunately, as recent history shows, there are enough brainsick pissa-beds who buy into this un-American drivel to swing elections in the favor of ethically challenged, short-sighted, and hypocritical politicians.

    I am not putting all christians into this group. You will know if you belong here if reading this makes you angry.
