Baghdad: The besieged press

Holed up in fortified compounds, at constant risk of death when they venture out, reporters in Iraq are increasingly cut off from the hideous reality outside.

Baghdad: The besieged press

Please, send the article to your president!

Well, no need to. He knows already, because his visits to iraq resemble a snakelike entry into a gully.

kudos

This is an excellent article because it contains information from/about lots of people, and presents it in a way that helps me understand the changes that have taken place. As far as I can tell it is the insurgents who have created this environment for journalists, and I do find myself wondering how it helps them.

More bad news?...

Orville Schell obviously did not get the memo from Mr. Rumsfeld prior to his trip to Baghdad!. Too bad! Because of it, he could not see all the positive developments in the country...(snicker!)

The besieged press

Schell's piece should be required reading in Washington. The lunatics now truly control the asylum. The U.S. policy behind this horror emanates from another "fortified compound," as hostile to journalism as the Baghdad street.
