  • Eenie, Meanie, Miney

It's hard to tell which pro-war, pro-big business party will be more discredited by November of 2006 - the war mongering, quasi-fascist Republicans or the prostrate, groveling Democrats.

  • Surprisingly Weak

If that's all the Rove slime machine has coming, then the Democrats have nothing to fear.

The "We're at war" theme may even cut in favor of the Democrats. The further we get from 9/11 and the longer the ground situation in Iraq goes on without perceptible change, the more the American people have a chance to put it all in perspective and many will figure out that they've been bamboozled.

As for the economy, I think that Wall Street is doing better but for the average working stiff there is still perpetual fear that Wall Street will dictate a merger or downsizing and he or she will be out of a job. I'm willing to concede the vote of millionaires to gain all those of the working stiffs.

And, as for getting Roberts and Alito on the Supreme Court, unless they somehow get a fifth vote (beyond Scalia, Thomas, Roberts, and Alito) the Supreme Court won't start overruling all decisions since FDR was president. So all the true believers won't start seeing any results before the November elections. And, I otherwise read that the Republicans are afraid of the overruling of Roe v. Wade, etc. because they want the issues and if the court overrules them, they are deprived of the issues.

And, while it's an eternity until November, I'd suggest that the tide is moving against the Republicans. It's very possible that the Democrats will take back the Senate and House in November. IF they do, Bush stands a good chance of being impeached because of lying us into a war and a declared intent to violate all laws he doesn't like. And the impeachment hearings could bring out evidence that would poison public acceptance of Republican politics for at least a generation.

So, any Democrats who are shaking in his or her boots from what the Rove slime-machine is preparing, should consider the alternative reality that I've suggested. We can't rest easy, but we have so much to work with.

  • war

first of all, I can knock any of you losers out in a fight and then shame you physically. I am a real man. Bush has brought democracy and freedom to the middle east. If those imbeciles don't accept the fact that we have given them freedom, well, we will just have to bash them in the head a few times until they understand. Any of you want to fight me, let me know. I like to intimidate weaker guys. One time I was out at a bar and some jerk wouldn't move out of the way. I invited him to step outside. When he did, I took my shirt off and tensed my muscles. I say to him, "flex nuts right now, flex nuts." He was so impressed by my musculature and the cut and hardness of my muscles that he apologized to me and said that there was no way he could beat me in a fight. I forgave him for his transgressions against me. I went back in the bar and hit on his girlfriend. Later, I told this dweeb I would drive her home. When I got to her house she invited me in and begged me not to wear a rubber. I acquiesed to her demand. that is all.

  • ... and that's the story of how Patrick got herpes.

    The End.

  • You Have Got To Be Kidding...

    Dear Patrick,

You seem a little bit hostile.

Have you considered anger management counseling?

    Also...

    Do you read much news?

In an article written clear back in May by Washington Bureau Chief Timothy Phelps, Pat Lang, the former top Middle East intelligence official at the Pentagon was quoted as saying, "It's just political rhetoric to say we are not in a civil war. We've been in a civil war for a long time."

Other experts were quoted in the same article as saying that Iraq is on the verge of a full-scale civil war with civilians on both sides being slaughtered.

It has only gotten worse since then.

In a recent speech, President Bush said he didn't believe a civil war would break out in the country. But according to a recent report from Baghdad, some observers believe it has already begun. There is now a quiet and deadly struggle whose battle lines have been thrown into sharp relief by the recent, highly polarized vote results, according to a recent L.A. Times Article by John Daniszewski. In the same article, James Fearon, a Stanford University political scientist and an authority on modern conflicts stated that, "Since 1945, almost all civil wars, a big plurality, have been guerrilla wars where it is kind of insurgency versus counterinsurgency." He added, "Most civil wars look more like what we are seeing in Iraq now."

Is this what you call democracy and freedom?

If you have done your homework, you will note that at best, Iraq has turned into a corrupted theocracy, albeit a democratically elected one.

Actually, I can't believe I am attempting to reason with you after wading through your post in disbelief that someone could embarrass himself so cluelessly.

Do you by any chance drive a very large, jacked up pick up truck? Is the overuse of steroids interfering with your love life, or by chance, causing mental disturbances such as psychosis, mania or depression?

This has to be some kind of joke...

  • Rove's tricky Propaganda convention

The thing about Rove's propaganda is that it is so transparently inaccurate. His job is to marry truth and lie.

Take this sentence from karl Rove:

As Rove put it, "President Bush believes if al-Qaida is calling somebody in America, it is in our national-security interest to know who they're calling and why. Some important Democrats clearly disagree. This is an issue worthy of a public debate."

Well, he's half right. President Bush did say, "[If Al Queda is calling you, we want to know]" But, democrats also agree with this. I never heard a democrat say that they did not want to know if someone in this country was chatting with the evil Osama. The oppostiton to the Bush party; republicans, democrats, libertarians, greens and so on just think it prudent to get a court clearance to do so. Is that so hard? Would we really be so stupid, Karl, to think that a court approval or FISA approval, is really standing in the way of worthwhile intelligence gathering. Go ahead spy on people communicating with Osama himself, just get a FISA recommendation. Simple, easy and it protects US from warrentless, meaningless, expensive spying.
