  • Blum's 15 Minutes of Fame

This fellow has been around for four decades, peppering the landscape with extremist ideas and assertions, all based upon his observations of the world through glasses tinted rather darkly.

However, his viewpoint, and that of the terrorist bin Laden, share a common angle and clarity to see through the fog of lies.

We have murdered millions of people of color in the name of liberty these last four decades.

Osama wanted to return the favor, and his band of radicals gained the notoriety of success in stinging the hide of the elephant like a tsetse fly, and startling the poor beast as a mouse running around in circles before the elephant wide-eyed in fright.

Isn't it odd that no one noticed that bin Laden is still free?

Isn't it odd that no one noticed that the economy is less than half what it should be now if it were not for waste on war and oppression?

Isn't it odd that we have leaders who are free despite evidence that they violate our constitution, steal the elections, while usurping the resources of the indigent, burning poor villages to the ground in the name of peace, destroying the environment, wiping out the ability of good, hard working people to make a living wage, and acting as traitors, murderers, and enemies of all that America was supposed to be.

But who would agree with such visions?

    Who indeed?

Blum's message is simple and true.

We are like the elephant, and we follow our lead elephant into the fog.

Everyone else is a fly or a rhodent.

Seems kinda like " Final Solution " type ideas . Hitler said the same things about America and a certain other "Nation" . I see no significant difference between the historic record of my country and America . Canada , don't believe what we say , we are a little biased .

Not only is it Generic but damn , has anyone bothered to study the post WWII world other than America ? Depite all the mistakes i'd take them over any other world cop .

It just happens to be easy to " get the facts " about a country that is actually capable of self criticism , as opposed to a country like Canada were we are sure of our moral superiority and thus our ability to judge which specific group is so very different from us .

" end American support for Israel and reduce the military budget by 90 percent "

Does anyone seriously think the world would then " improve " in someway , like its ever been different ?

  • Millions murdered

" We have murdered millions of people "

Minus the collateral damage (unless you agree with Hitler , there is no such thing as collateral damage , its all morally equivalent)Minus the reponisbility of others for deaths . According to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation 3 million dead total in Vietnam is a popular number used in Vietnam , but that includes the many years of war before and after American involvment . Shelling civillians , atrocites , forced starvation , and yes some " collateral damage " . There was no American combat involved in many years and many deaths in Vietnam .

And what about the 1/4 million dead South Vietnamese troops ? And what about the contribution of countries that fought on the American side ? And on the Communist side ?

Tens of thousands of Canadians fought in Vietnam , Canada made Billions off the war , Canada supported South

Vietnam politically and militarily including making and selling to the South Vietnamese and American forces

millions of tons of explosives , napalm and Agent Orange .

Is Canada responsible for any deaths in Vietnam ?

  • Good for Blum. And what about the mess the rest of us are in?

It's refreshing when someone actually says things that make sense, and is not afraid of it. All cheers go to Blum. Glad he got some attention, even if it is through Bin Laden. The other day I read Bin Laden's speech, and found that it too makes more sense than anything we have heard from bush and his clique in the last 5 years. A terrorist who organized the killing of 3,000 + Americans is actually not as evil as our own president! bush is the world’s terrorist No 1. Isn't that disturbing?

  • I'm thrilled Mr. Blum's ideas are getting a hearing...but while we all sit around blogging...

...blowing off steam, feeding our egos, the country, the global community is going to hell in a handbasket.

Get up off your chair and away from your keyboards and for God's Sake, DO SOMETHING!

(yes, I do get out and carry signs, fuss and bitch a bit in person.)

  • Weird.

It's ironic, isn't it, that such an avowed Jew-hater as bin Laden sits in his cave and reads the books of a Jewish boy from the Bronx? That the interview was conducted by Scherer is even weirder. Now that Blum's book sales are vaulting past anything Scherer's ever done, I guess the hardliners will have a new favorite whipping boy to accuse of self-hatred.

Anyway, it's good to remember that the diaspora breed of intellectually honest, liberal, truth-seeking Jews still exists (of course, mostly in the blue states) -- and that apparently, if left to (our) devices, could quite readily come to peaceable terms with the other peoples of the world. But we're being beaten silly by the Zionist hawks, who want to impose their order with aid of all the old tricks they learned from the Germans. That's the "they" Blum's talking about.

We're the people of the shtetl, man. Not the fortified crusader state. We get burned out; we hang on. Of course we're a little paranoid, a little neurotic. And we're supposed to have bleeding hearts, because we've bled ourselves. But this whole boomer generation of American Jews grew up with -- how can we say it -- a very strong fear of being a nebbish. Their parents didn't speak such great English...so there was an impulse to assimilate, but also a level of shame there, because the holocaust made assimilation seem shameful. Then they saw "Exodus" and got wet dreams about Jews finally having guns and being able to defend ourselves. They turned hard right - (David Horowitz being a prime example) - now they're as radical as any nutjob Israeli settler (if having a much poorer grasp of the "optional" religion that accompanies the ethnicity.) Well, power corrupts; guns corrupt. For 3,000 years those of us who wanted take our learning and intellect and make peace, and blend in, have been fucked on both sides. One side by pillaging goyim, the other side by zealots who'd just as soon see us crucified. (Literally, on at least one notable occasion.)

"Love's the only engine of survival." That was said by man who understood what's really going on.
