Tona, when Ames was caught spying, every single covert agent he knew about was exposed. The CIA had reason to believe that Ames "gave up" Valerie Plame. That made her worthless as a covert agent and that is why the CIA pulled her back in. The agency had no way of knowing which countries eventually received the information Ames sold. For the agent's own protection, they are immediately considered compromised.

Do you seriously mean to imply that any covert CIA personnel that Ames might even theoretically have known about, or could have deduced was covert, are to be considered blown to the world since then?

How can Fitzgerald indict anyone based on something that isn't a crime? Plame wasn't covert. She was given up by Aldrich Ames in the 90's. The only wrongdoing I've seen is from Plame herself, breaking federal nepotism laws to send hubby to Niger and Wilson for writing a false editorial to the NYT in an attempt to discredit the administration prior to the election. The Senate intelligence committee busted Wilson for giving misleading and false testimony. Why isn't Salon and other media outlets reporting this?
