I am a citizen of a third world nation where the dream of every citizen is to have just basic healthcare, not to talk of healthcare insurance. So when I read all the bruhaha about the possibility of giving the dispossessed Americans free healthcare insurance, I begin to wonder whether technological advancement has not started affecting the straight-thinking of political America. Or is it just Jim Crow crowding the thinking of a segment of America which still thinks Blacks are subhumans and as such, a government led by a Black cannot possibly come up with anything right? Sad!
Only in the sense that those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it. Looking at recent history, what possibly makes anyone think that the Federal government can run anything effectively & efficiently? Look at the health care programs the government currently runs, Medicare / Medicaid, Veterans, & BIA, all a mess. Look at our public education system since the feds got involved in the Carter years, cost way up, results way down. How about the Energy Dept, again started in the Carter years with a primary goal of reducing dependence of foreign oil. It now has a budget of about $30 billion, and our use of foreign oil has only increased. There is the Fannie Mae / Freddy Mac, CRA mortgage mess, underscored by congressional meddling, and of course, there is the TSA (I think their motto is "We make the IRS look good"). We used to be good at wars, but today's military can't win against third world, ragtag insurgents, or even run a cemetery. I see no realistic scenario where this works out for the average citizen.
Also, the Democrats who are giving and taking bribes to get the votes are tireless public servants, but the only reason those evil Republicans are against it is to punish Obama? That's reporting?
The "private sector is always right" morons have checked in. We have a system NOW that is primarily private. IT DOES NOT WORK. IT DOES NOT WORK. People go bankrupt. People die from lack of care.
Yes, the Federal Government would be MUCH MUCH BETTER than the "death panels" in the insurance companies. The insurance company death panels forbid care from being paid for. They cancel policies when people get sick. These death panels are not the tea bag traitor lies promulgated by the insurance company liars, but real entities. Many insurance companies employ hundreds and hundreds of workers to cancel policies, forbid therapies, and force people to die. These death panels must be stopped.
The only question is, why do the Repukeliscum like the failed private sector that we have now? Why do the Repukeliscum want 50 million Americans to NOT have health care? Why do the Repukeliscum want Americans to die.
As Alan Grayson said, the only policy that the Repukeliscum have is "don't get sick". When you do, the prescription is "Die quickly".
History is living today. We see history in action.
Insurance companies cancel policies when people get sick, so that you think you are covered, but the bills are not paid. That is history.
About 80% of personal bankruptcies are due to health insurance problems. That is history.
Women who are beaten by their husbands have that considered to be a pre-existing condition. That is history.
History teaches us many things, but not if you are a repukeliscum moron. If you are a repukeliscum moron, you have learned from the history of insurance company failures that you want more insurance company failures.
Yes, the mark of idiocy and stupidity is doing the same thing and expecting different results. Thus, the repukeliscum and their useful idiots are idiots.
