Breakfast should be protein and complex carb
Which can be almost anything, including SOME cereals. If you want a cereal look for one that has at least 5 grams each of protein and fiber (complex carb) and whatever other requirements you have for yourself. The protein and fiber help prevent premature hunger.
There are lots of choices out there. As a dietitian, I often recommend the Kashi cereals mentioned above.
The granolas I have looked at generally don't meet my criteria because they are so high in calories.
Or experiment for breakfast. This morning I had fat free refried beans with brown rice and salsa.
