Thanks, fromPhilly, for pointing us to statements from other African-Americans who are as appalled by this travesty as the rest of us. That goes a long way toward refuting the apologists here who have taken the bizarre position that Kaplan's ass fetish is some sort of feminist race-positive statement.

I know that argument by analogy has already been done nearly to death here but I wonder what the reaction would have been in 1991 to a statement by a young African-American man that he felt vindicated by the appointment of a big-lipped black man to the Supreme Court.

Loved the article on Michelle Obama - Yes, she has back! As a white man married to a black woman (and certainly "down with the swirl"!) I can safely say that I noticed Michelle's "back" immediatly. She is the hottest First Lady ever! (Even more so that Jackie Kennedy. And I never though anyone would top her!). The Sweet Chocolate Ice Cream!

Ms. Kaplan, how would you feel if, say, a noted expert stopped by your offices to give the Salon staff a presentation on the future of online journalism and afterwords one of your senior executives walked up to you and said:

"Wow, her presentation was good, but did you see that phat ass!"
