  • Are You Single Again ?

I had really noticed a difference in Rebecca's misandry after she confessed to having a date for Valentine's day. After reading this, I wonder if the bloom is off the rose ? It's funny how direct quotes she uses from women in the article ( Michelle Goldberg ) are reasonable when expressed by a woman, but sexist when expressed by a man. I guess you can find sexism and "privileged white male" fear anywhere, if that's what your looking for.

Not to overpost, but this comment bears repeating, and I hope a few people read it before getting sucked into this hatefest even more:

Can you explain to me exactly how articles like these are supposed to mend the rift amongst democratic voters? Remind me again why it is helpful to pour gasoline on the fire?

You do realize that you have journalistic responsibility, don't you Joan?

Until now I always thought those who called you out were being silly...but now I'm starting to see their point.

This article is serves no purpose but to further the divide between both camps, and you know it.

  • Smurf...

If there is a greater comfort with sexism in this country than racism, it is likely because said sexism has a very limited effect on people.

Wow... I'm assuming you are a man, because if you were a woman it would be much more difficult to discount the effects of sexism that women deal with on a regular basis.

I don't see the need to have a pissing contest on racism v sexism. If you pay the slightest bit of attention, it's pretty obvious they're both everywhere, and that they're both harmful economically, socially, personally.

Many church leaders from across the nation and world support Rev. Wright. One of those that support him is Hillary Clinton's pastor. In case you missed it one of the greatest evangelist of our times Rev. Graham had the ear of about three presidents. The religious right has been one of the leading forces in politics the last 15 years.

It is so silly to say that your church preaches only about God. You cannot preach about God and not relate it to how you treat people. There is no relationship with God without love toward your fellow person. In the book of James the question is asked "how can you love a God you can't see and hate your brother who you can see." Paul says if you take communion but have a problem with your neighbor you are bringing condemnation on the whole body. Jesus says what you have done unto the least of these you have done unto me. He also said The firs commandment is to love God and the second is like unto it love thy neighbor as thyself on these to commands hang all the laws and the prophets. So a preacher who does not talk about the way the government is working, or things that divide people, the poor, abortion and abortion rights, sex, health, teh enviroment, and a host of other issues is not preaching the word of God because the are these issues effect us all. Understand most of the sins we all commit are not in vaccum they are against someone. This is why so many religious leaders leaders across the board said the exact same thing that Rev. Wright said. That America's exported violence came home to roost.

But in fact I take it you did not even listen to all of Rev. Wright's sermon because the main premise was not against whites or the country but who do you put your trust in. He said you have to put your trust in God.

Nice try, but boys are also sold as sex slaves here in this country, too.

  • This Says It All

I believe there is a lot of truth to the points made in the article. For example, I recently saw an interview of three men, all of whom were from the South, and were blue-collar types, probably democrats because of union affiliations. They were asked whom they supported in the democratic primary. Only one offered his choice. He said that he was leaning for Obama, "even though" he thought that "Obama was a Muslim"; Obama "did not know the pledge of allegiance"; Obama "did not know the Star Spangled Banner"; and Obama had taken his "oath [of office] on the Koran." Still, and in spite of all of those (mis)beliefs, he was still supporting Obama. I found this incongruous considering what I felt was the apparent background of this gentleman. Then, it dawned on me what he might have really meant -- that he was still supporting Obama because the other choice -- supporting a woman -- was somehow more objectionable than the perceived Obama traits were.

  • It's not sexism

If someone dislikes Hillary - because she lies, because she has more corporate lobbyist donations than any campaign in history, if her health care plan is more to benefit HMOs and Insurance companies than poor people - it's not because she is a woman, its because she is wrong. It's because she is corrupt and corruptible. It's because she is a pathological liar who is married to a pathological liar.

I have been an activist for women's rights since the early seventies and for bitchy old women to say to me NOW that I am only supporting OBAMA because Hillary is a woman infuriates me. I would LOVE to have a woman as President, but NOT Hillary Clinton (or Geraldine Ferraro). If Clinton is the first female President, she may very well be the last one for generations. HILLARY IS BAD NEWS for America and for women!

  • If this back;ash results in Hillary win, then we are fools

One woman says the faraway kinda look in Obama supporters scare her.

Well, has she seen any republican lately?

How zealous they are supporting their candidate?

If fanatic support by boys results in womens' votes for Hillary, then it shows our stupidity and inability to look into real matters and instead perceive feminism as a sole way to oppose men.

Probably voting for McCain and another war would atleast be better.
