"mindless Obama automatons" is redundant.

It's Just a Smoke Screen
Thank you for this article on the "bashing of Hillary". I am white 64 year old male equally concerned about the misogenic bent of my gender to trash Hillary. I have thought for some time Clinton bashing was only a subterfuge for the real story, the fear of a woman president. It is unfortunate that those fearful members of mine can so easily escape this anti-woman in charge accountabilty by supporting black man to demonstrate their progressive and worldly nature...my fellow men, it's all just a smoke screen...you've been had.

I AM ONE OF THOSE WOMEN OVER A CERTAIN AGE
AND I WOIULDN'T VOTE FOR THE DRAGON LADY IF SOMEONE PAID ME A MILLION DOLLARS AND I'M NOT A MLLIONAIRE. SHE IS THE MOST CORRUPT, LYING, AMORAL POLITICIAN TO COME ALONG SINCE RICHARD NIXON!!!!!

Obama is George W. Bush in Democratic drag
Obama is the Democrats answer to George W. Bush.
They are both inexperienced, unqualified, surrounded by religious fanatics, and all style over substance.

I am a man. I love my mother and my wife. Neither supports Hillary nor do I. If she were a man I would feel exactly the same way. The constant, "there is really no significant difference in their policies" crap is crap. There is a huge difference. Corporate money. Corporate triangulation. So back off your own silly self. This is not about misogynistic men (and women) or racists or feminists. It is about the war and the economy and the raping of our country by corporations. It is about torture and spying.
It is not about elitism or guns or flag pins.
If you writers would actually address the issues instead of this emotional silliness even 25% of the time we might have a better informed electorate instead of an emotionally charged bunch of flamers. Get real. Glen cannot do it all himself here. I cannot wait until the Joanification of Salon is finally over.

But, but, but!
None of this matters to Hillary's core constituency, Frustrated Old White Ladies. For the FOWL, Hillary is not merely a candidate, she is a surrogate self. Her election will redeem their unfulfilled lives and exact revenge on all those who didn't heed their advice, didn't even ACKNOWLEDGE me, dammit, when I knew all ALONG the way things should be and what you should do about it, but did you even LISTEN TO ME? Well you're going to HAVE to listen now, buster, because I, we, I mean Hillary's going to be PRESIDENT! So THERE!

I've seen how badly this movie ends.
In the end we all live by our own anecdotal evidence. As for me, I've had to navigate through an election season between a wife who loves Hillary and a mother who hates her while loving Obama. As an Obama supporter, I've found myself, like Rebecca, spending an inordinate amount of time defending Hillary from the irrational attacks, mostly from the media (thanks to Olbermann and Matthews, MSNBC is now as toxic around our house as FOX.) The real scary thing for me is having been through this in 1968, I see all the signs that it's about to happen again. Democrats are going to lose the bitter vote--big! (The bitter block in America is a story in itself). In 1968 it seemed impossible that Richard Nixon, the Count Dracula of American politics, would actually rise from the crypt, remove the stake he had driven through his own heart, and win. But he did. This year is the sequel. President-elect John "Night of the Living Dead" McCain--playing at a theater near you this November.

whoever is the biggest victim deserves the biggest prize
Can you imagine if Obama was a lesbian, and in a wheelchair? We'd make him Lord of America for life.

Good points, bad points.
This article contains many good points about the role of feminism in a "post-feminist" society, and how Clinton's candidacy should be viewed through the larger lens of equality. I still don't agree with many of her policy decisions, and many of the decisions of her husband's administration. I believe those are valid points.
However, the tone of the piece is designed to alienate the very people this piece needs to be spoken to. If you want to convince young, male, Democratic voters that Hillary should be their candidate (and how her candidacy ties into a larger movement for equality than perhaps Obama's does), it's probably best not to use derision and scorn to do it.
Generally Salon these days has taken a "gotcha" approach to their headlines regarding the two candidates, and I feel their readers read the headlines and immediately jump to the letters section to express their umbrage. I think it's time this publication, in addition to these articles which give us a nice "forest for the trees" look, begin to talk about the effect that these candidates records have had on their candidacies.
If it's unfair to attack candidates based on their race or sex, then let's do our part to move the conversation past that and talk about policy. Personally, I think both candidates would welcome the chance to get wonky and get away from black and woman and racist and feminist. We deride the MSM for this kind of coverage, and yet Salon, in all honesty, hasn't been fairing much better. So let's step it up folks, and talk about the REAL reasons to vote for these candidates. Otherwise, this is all we're going to discuss, and it won't get any better.

Where your persecution complex matters, to a sickening and excessive degree (aka ad nauseam). Oh well, yet another article about the same old bullshit.. Sorry all you increasingly frustrated young women, I know, I know. Sometimes the sexism comes on like sniper fire and you have to run, duck your head down and get to your car! I am an Obamatron, I have a glazed look in my sexist eyes... What's wrong with me??

Hey, Obama boys
Long before Obama ever let it be known that he may compete in this presidential horserace, Hillary had managed to have herself annointed the presumptive Dem candidate, almost as if she was entitled to Presidency. Why has she had this attitude?
Now when she talks about Obama's inexperience does she remember that there were several other candidates much more experienced than she is? How does she measure up to them?
Hillary has brought all this criticism on herself because of her entitlement attitude. Her criticisms of Barack have been strident, demagogic, illogical and downright stereotypical of the usual feminist whining. Nevertheless, neither she, nor Chelsea, nor any of her surrogates would openly talk about how her performance during the Monica episode should be viewed when taking stock of her "performance under pressure". What did she do at 3AM when she knew that Bill was having his way with Monica downstairs in the Oval office? Why was Bill's embarassing behavior with Monica and at least 4 or 5 other women not enough for Hillary to kick him to the curve? Did she calculatingly believe that acting against Bill would ruin her chances of later claiming to be a suffient New Yorker to permit her to opt for the Senate from that State? Up to that point, I had always been led to believe that she was an Arkansan! How much more should I speak about to let folks like you understand that as an "average guy" I feel such visceral dislike for that Hillary. I can name at least a dozen other women, liberal, conservative, black, white, hispanic, young, old who would be much more qualified, electable, acceptable to a wider swath of the general electorate than this person named Hillary. She is phoniness personified. Any of my six sisters (none of whom supports Hillary) would be more acceptable that she is!
