So women get turned on watch a man and woman, two women or two men. Heterosexual men get turned on by watching a man and a woman, two women but not two men. And the assumption is this is genetic. You don't think this has to do with social attitudes towards male homosexuality?

There's so much we don't know about sexuality -- particularly men's. This woman is lighthearted but the focus of much of this research, which is still no doubt rather primitive, is to make people's lives better. Thanks for the article.

Female Viagra Nonsense
When will people stop talking about the search for female viagra? Viagra does not increase male libido; it gives erectile assistance to men who are psychologically aroused. Females do not need erectile assistance, obviously, and where's the evidence that sending more blood to their private parts would do anything for their libido? What is being worked on, I'm sure, considering the $ to be made, is female arousal chemistry. As a male I'd kick in a few bucks for the cause...the women I'm meeting who have thrown in the towel, sometimes as young as 40ish, is astounding and sad.

A good question - a leading question, that generates more questions.
Social attitudes have everything to do with it because they directly affect sexual psychology, and that isn't something that can be studied in a lab. In particular, female sexual psychology is heavily influenced not only by how she feels about herself but how she feels about her prospective mate, especially her romantic illusions about him. Psychological comfort is important. Mood is important. And it is important to remember that women like a romantic setting, and that is more difficult to produce in a clinical setting than in the hot tub, although it can be done.
Remarkably, other things that are more amenable to study in a lab, like relative and cyclical hormonal levels or physical conditioning, aren't even mentioned in the article. Instead they bring up viagra, which is overrated and dangerous: it's preposterous that they couldn't find a guy who couldn't keep it up for one minute without it. Any normal male between the ages of 14 and 40 should be expected to keep it up indefinitely, given a little coaching from, say, Denise Milani.
Social and personal expectations are also important, insofar as these usually lead to self-limitation and dissatisfaction rather than elevation and apotheosis. Those who are into sexual tantrism know that very normal women can be about ten times as sexual as they're generally expected to be. Techniques have long been established for reaching the higher plateaus with practice, but most people aren't even aware of the benefits of yoga, much less tantra.

I struggled
With 2nd and 3rd order mixed partial differential equations with polar translation in Real Analysis, in college. I suspect it offers more clarity than the mumbo jumbo that is purported Female Sexuality. At some point you have to decide whether talking about talking about talking about talking about it is worth it. My spouse has never had any measurable libido at all and completely closed up shop at age 34, for good, forever, 16 years ago. If there is a 90,000 page instruction manual for that I'm sure I wouldn't read it at this point.

What? That makes no scientific sense at all. Catagorically it is wrong. Viagra, and I know this from personal experience works just as well, for its intended purpose, on women as well as it does for me. That is, Viagra is a vasodilator. A woman who takes it should well find that her labia nad surrounding tissue is engorged and some pleasurable benefits can result as well.
To make the obvious clear, viagra was never intended to increase sexual desire, but act as a vasodilator to aid in erections. Why people say 'female viagra' when what they mean is a sexual stimulant is beyond me. But, trust me, Viagra can work for it's intended purpose for women as well as men.

Look, it really is this simple:
Every time a hetrosexual guy watches a man and a woman have sex, he is sexually aroused by the woman but not by the man- whom he inevitably sees as competition, and whose presence he must devote some mental effort to ignoring.
When a man watches two women engaged in lesbian sex, he doesn't have to do that mental editing. Instead, he gets TWO woman to be sexually aroused by.
That is why such an extraordinarily large quantity of pornography is, quite bluntly, lesbians having sex with no guy in sight.
I would imagine that the "inconvenient guy" problem does not arise if the person watching the pornography is bisexual, but as I understand it, truly bisexual men are a definite societal minority.
