thought experiment... what if this was the norm?

What if it was the norm that women had babies through sperm donors? Think of how that would change relationship dynamics. I'd love a world where if you're not hooked up by the age of 30 you're encouraged to go pick out some sperm and have a child. The whole 'catch a man' thing would go away, and, I think, people would have more honest and equal relationships.

I saw a documentary on tv a while back, about sex and relationships (I think, was the main topic) and they focused on Iceland, where single mom's are very prevelant 'cuz people just run around having sex in their early 20s, and have the kids. It's a socialist gov't, and I imagine that it works better in Iceland where the population there is all sort of related to each other, so that lil bastard isn't a lil bastard, he's a distant cousin.

Women are sold the line of the perfect wedding and marriage and Martha Stewart magazine supbscriptions... and we run around like crazy trying to make it happen. The thing is that the guys steeped in our american culture don't seem to notice their own biological clocks and complain that women are trying to trap them to have babies. So... there are so many single women out there, approaching 40 with their peers on the male side not thinking about 'the family way' until they're like 45 or so. Fertility does decline after a certain age, and with endometriosis and other fertility blockers, it's better to get a head start on having babies if you want them.

    I wish I started earlier.
